Taqueria

I'm driving to TJ on Monday to drop some surfboards off for shipment to Mag Bay. Does anyone know of a GOOD Taqueria near that Otay border crossing?

I frequent Taqueria Franc on Boulevard General Rodolfo Sánchez Taboada (the BEST Taqueria this side of Mexico City), but it's clear across town...

I guess no one hangs out in that area although I have heard of a kickass deli on the US side of the gate.

Are you looking for a regular taquería—asada, adobada, suadero—or any kind of taquería? El Mazateño is just a few minutes away on Calzada Tecnológico if you want camarón enchilado. There's also Rincón Bucanero on the same street (behind the Oxxo that's across from the Kyocera maquila). Tacos el Franc it ain't, but it's better than most US-side stuff.

If you're willing to deal with a little drive—not the whole way across town—go to Tacos el Poblano on Díaz Ordaz a few blocks southeast of the libramiento (where the ring road turns into the road to the Otay border). Same schedule as Tacos el Franc though.

Erik's Deli & Grill

Erik's Deli and Grill. The place is clean, great food, clean restrooms, free wi-fi.

As soon as you clear US customs at Otay, take the first off ramp (Siempre Viva). Make a right turn onto Siempre Viva.

First street on your right is Roll Drive. Make another right turn onto Roll Drive.

Erik's is in the last strip mall on your left at the Corner of Roll Drive and Via De La Amistad .....If you go straight on Roll Drive, you will head to the Otay SENTRI office.
