Help!!!! my printer died!
Yesterday was not my day....trying to scan and print a document for a local, my printer died....I tried all day to trouble shoot and it just wont work
again...soooo....
I'm looking for suggestions for another one....simple and cheap is best with refillable ink qualities.
if anyone has an old one lying around that can print colour I would be willing to buy it or trade for accomodation, fishing, etc.
I had an excellent Canon printer and they just dont seem to last more than a couple years!
thanks all

My HP PSC 1050xi has lasted for years... I am not happy that the ink doesn't last longer, but it still works!

Probably not the same problem but my Canon printer died like yours and it turned out to be that the ink well at the bottom of the printer was full
with waste ink. I had to take the whole thing apart and clean out the well and wash and dry out the foam pad and then carefully put it all back
together. Mine is a IP6000. Not a simple job but doable for someone with patience, some jewelers screwdrivers and a pair of magnifying glasses. Good
luck wirth yours.

I agree with HP. What I found with the other brands is that ink is more expensive and hard to find in Mexico. HP is dependable, relatively inexpensive
and ink available even at the small supply stores throughout Baja.

thanks Larry...good plan...what I dont like about the MP160 is that every time you turn it on even to scan something, the ink thing does a cleaning
and wastes ink...the alarm light went on and I cant even turn it on now....I did like my old HP.
our village is small and doesnt carry printer inks....no office depot or anything remotely close to it.

Got a new HP3525 at Soriana's for under 1K pesos and it seems to work pretty good. ON my old HP I had the ink cartridges filled here locally and they
all leaked out on the way home. The 3525 doesn't run the test.

The problem that I have with ink jet printers is that we don't use them often enough and the (expensive) ink cartridges dry up, then when we need it
it doesn't work. I've heard that the laser printers don't have that problem. For as often as I need to print something, now I just put the document on
a memory stick and go down to the papelaria.

I have an HP Deskjest F2210, and has and still is serving me well. I ordered it from Walmart in 2009, and it cost around $40. I order my ink from
eBay.

"It died" is sorely lacking details. What happened when you turned it on? Did it start to power up? Does it have power (little green or blue led
lights on?) Does it have power but the PC just doesn't see it? Does the PC see it and send documents to it that don't print?
Does it get power from the outlet? Was Izak messing with it? See any brujas close to it?

when I tried to print something, the alarm button came on and it shut off....i was able to restart it 3 times but the alarm light kept coming on even
when just trying to scan something. and then it just plain wont turn on at all now..when I unplug it and plug it in the alarm light is still on and no
way to reset it..I spent alot of time troubleshooting, moving the sliding ink bar manually, re installing driver etc etc and no go...I'm gonna try
Larry's suggestion and take the bugger apart I guess....printed just fine a coule day ago and nobody has been near it since....wonder if the heat
renders it inactive...like it does to me! or yes perhaps witchcraft.....

DEP
Circuit board fallo.
Find the closest walmart, costco and bite the bullet of paying 25 bucks more than in the US. The Cats suggest an HP and the ink cartridges are
everywhere.

Shari you can shop online at Office Max Mexico and they ship everything directly to you at no charge. Their competitor Office Depot Mexico does what
you would expect and sends your order, at your expense, via courier. I have used this many times to Mulegé, so it is definitely an option if you
can't get to the big city.

wow Brinloor, I will definately check that out... thanks for the tip!
OK o I had the printer on the table...screw drivers in hand and in the glass...then I had to go for some shrimp tacos cause it's Saturday....now I
have to go in the ocean cause it was way too hot in town....but now that I saw greengoes diagnosis, I may just throw it over the cliff.
should I dare open the link to fixing printers....I think not today...but will bookmark it for later perusal ...in case my trusty Canon doesnt go
cliff diving.
thank you so much all for your learned advice and suggestions...and a special beso to Dennis for being so loveable.

And a big smooch for you, Toots.
Let me tell you how much fun destruction can be. When I built my place, I put in two of those low profile escusados....you know....the ones that
look like sleek hairdryers sitting on the floor... and grew to hate them with a passion. One day, I popped the bolts on the one in my bathroom and
took it up to our trash trailer, set it on the ground and beat it beyond recognition with a sledge hammer.
It was one of my most proud and gratifying moments.
I'm saving the second taza for a day when I need an emotional lift.

Unfortunately printers are more or less 'disposable' items these days. Almost cheaper to buy a new one than to buy ink. Sorry, I know that doesn't
help on your corner of the world.........wannna trade?
