Mulege Off Road Race NOW JAN 26th 2014, see last post

This is the race that has been a great success for the last 4 years. This is produced by Mulege Movimiento.AC, a charity organization the supports local in need of medical care or medical transportation. 100% of the proceeds will go to assisting persons in need. This is a group of about 30 people who donate their time and energy to helping others and receive nothing in return except much appreciation from the people. I can't say enough about this wonderful group of people. Anyhow, back to the race...Last year saw over 40 motos, 25 quads and about 25 cars and trucks. WE want more Cars and Trucks to participate. Hence, we are seeking additional 'purse' sponsors to increase the purse. So far, over $1400 dollars has been pledged. Butch and Betty of Mulege, as President of the Band of Brothers Motorcycle Club, kicked it off by donating $1000 [ USD]!Thanks Guys! The "purse" sponsors donations will be used as follows - 25% to Mulege Movimiento.AC and 75% to the cars and truck winners prizes. If you would like to donate, U2U me. Your name, if you wish, will be included on the promotional web flyer and possibly on T shirts. Donations of 1000 dollars or more will get a large space for their business logo. 500 or more a smaller space for their logo. The rest will be name lists. Visit the organixation here https://www.facebook.com/mulegemovimiento.ac to learn all that they do. BTW, this site is quickly becoming the Mulege "newspaper". A great place to find out about local events, rants , solutions and great photos.
Back to racing.... The course is yet to be determined, but it will be at least as long as last years 25k and depending on how this sundays race goes, it may follow that course or a combo of each.
Race is Nov 26th with tech inspection under the bridge on the 25th. Food, beverages and live music will keep you entertained on Sat. We have positive feedback from the off road clubs in Loreto, Santa Rosilia, Constituion and La Paz and are expecting a large turn out of racers and spectators.

As of today, THE RACE IS BACK ON !! SAME DATE. It will be run on a dedicated course from New Years Rancho to out near the highway by the drug rehab center. Guessing that each lap will be between 30 - 50k. They will begin course construction in a day or two. I will post a map as soon as it is available. It will not follow the course map above.
Pro motos will be 100k to 150k tbd. Kids motos will be shorter. Races will start at 8 am. Mandatory tech inspection will be sat, time and location to be announced.
This course will be built specifically for off road racing and very few, if any, roads will be used.

Sign you Al?

Once again, the race date is delayed. All the permits are in place, but the ejido requires more time to build the course. This will be a dedicated course for off road use and will not use existing roads or ranch properties, hence, the longer construction time. Stay Tuned ( it is Mexico)

BUSCANDO PATROCINADORES QUE SE ANIMEN PARA LOS TROFEOS DE LA PROXIMA CARRERA DE OFF-ROAD A LLEVARSE A CABO EL ROXIMO 24 DE NOVIEMBRE DONDE INAUGURAREMOS LA NUEVA PISTA DE LA H. MULEGE,PARTICIPA COOPERANDO CON MULEGE EN MOVIMIENTO, A.C. Y LA COMUNIDAD NECESITADA DE ESTA POBLACION, ¿QUIEN SE ANIMA?

Sponsors are sought for each trophy. There will be about 20 trophies and for 250 pesos your name will be added on the trophy as a sponsor. All proceeds will go to the community. Let us get at least one trophy stamped with "Baja Nomads'''!!! and if you have a baja business, this is a inexpensive way to get your name out there.
We have also raised 14,000 pesos for prizes thru sponsors. These sponsors get recognition on all ads and various websites, as well as FB.

btw, we are still accepting trophy sponsors...250 PESOS gets your name on one of 40 trophies.
Also, we have raised $1200 DOLLARS to be split 75 percent to the purse and 25 percent to Mulege in Motion AC. Thanks to Butch and Betty of Band of Brothers MC Club, Mike and Ros of Purple Haze and Doctor Al. We are looking for more sponsors!! Your name or company name will be on all promotion material for all of 2014. $100 minimum. Today the purse attracted the GN club and they promise to bring 12 cars. A large cash purse is rare in these small town races, so hopefully this will attract more clubs and make the new track a huge success , right from the start. You will be helping many needy persons in Mulege who require medical services. So, dig deep and spread some Xmas cheer.

The track is ready!! Everyone is welcome to practice run or just drive it for fun. It is open to all, motos, quads, cars and trucks. It is also free. Everyone is welcome. The track will be re graded and watered and rolled just prior to the race. Easy to get there...ice house road, past concrete place, 2nd right and stay on that for 4 miles, or so. Coming from SR, take a right off highway 1 at Cread and go straight for 2 miles. This is at the old livestock processing plant. There is a huge conc floor remaining which will be used for dancing after the race. here are a few pics

Rode the new local race course today on a 600R. Is like a big TT track, 1.1 miles around. 3 lefts, a tight right, then 2 more lefts to the front straight jump , 5 feet high. 3 other jumps, 1 meter or so. Wide, like 25 feet or better. Zero rocks, all alluvial soil that will be watered and rolled like a real race track, which it is. Kinda soft now, is brand new, just needs work. Outside of turns is bermed w/dirt, almost nothing to hit. It will be fast if prepped right. Will be a good show for the spectators too.

Thanks to those who helped make this happen in our back yard, is gonna be fun! See you there.

Are you going to run motos and quads at the same time as trucks?? With such a short course it sounds like it could get scary for the motos.

LOL No, that would be scary for everyone!. 3 classes of cars/trucks...4cyl, 6 cyl, 8 cyl

10 laps each. Most likely a qualifer race and possible one heat.

start ... either a staggered timed start or 2 abreast ( scary). If more than 8 4cyl cars show up, it will be broken down to 2 classes for 4cyl, probably stock and mid travel .

motos, 3 classes....under 15, amatuer up to 400cc, pros up to 600 cc, 10 laps

quads at least 2 classes, kids and masters, 10 laps for masters

btw, From the spectator area, one can see the complete track and even better if you are on top of your car/truck. You can even climb the hill beyond and see the whole thing from a distance with out dust.
Also, there area plenty of nice areas to camp.
