Thank you! What is a cabalgata? Looks like a rodeo or jaripeo?

Yes, Liz went. She rode my Macho mule Alazan.
She had a good time and we vetted San Nic animals this morning.
And of course Chuparosa won the first race between her and Celia. . . and Celia won the second race.
Can't lose when you own both mulas!!!

Loved the photos!!!!
Old people are like the old cars, made of some tough stuff. May show a little rust, but good as gold on the inside.

O.K., here goes.
A cabalgata is literally a 'horse walk".
It's a procession or parade to a town or destination generally associated with the Catholic Church and the town's patron saint.
In the past times, the people would don their best clothes, saddles, etc and all meet at the church for a mass and meal together to celebrate the
saint's day.
This is a tradition that is fast dying since kids are all moving to the cities, computers, cell phones, etc.
By having cabalgatas now, we are trying to preserve a part of cultural traditions.
The San Javier Festival the 1st week of December was started with cabalgatas from all directions to San Javier for Saint Javier. Now is has grown to
a full blown 3 day festival.
I hope this helps to understand what we are all about - .. . .
