Cooper's Hawk?
This bird flew in an open window a half hour ago, tried to fly out a closed one, and is now recovering from a mild concussion in the rafters of my
palapa.
It looks to me like a juvenile Cooper's Hawk.
What say the experts?

Nice looking bird.
Hope he recovers from his contact with the closed window
I am sure that someone with more bird knowledge than I will chime in.

He did find his way back out and flew away, apparently none the worse for wear....

I'd say it's an immature Cooper's Hawk, as the tail appears to be more rounded at the outer edges than an immature Sharp-Shinned Hawk and the breast
markings are not as dark, nor as reddish as a SS Hawk.
I am looking at the descriptions in the Stokes guide.

Is "eyes forward" significant, Big Oly? Are Sharp Shinned eyes more to the sides?
