Any info on road to San Javier from main road?

Was told road was recently significantly damaged by flooding.

Planned to take it on December 3rd in a Prius.

Any information greatly appreciated.

There will be lots to traffic because it will be the final day of the San Javier festival.
Plan on parking a long way away and walking into town.

The road had a lot of damage and washouts, but is pretty smooth - but I was in a diesel pickup F250. . . Have no judgement for a little low car.

We went up to San Javier in 2009, road was paved half way then... here are photos of Loreto and San Javier from then: http://vivabaja.com/709/page8.html

Actually, the whole trip page may be of interest: http://vivabaja.com/709/

It begins at Jardines...

Good current road information and information regarding the conditions when he will be traveling. Does much pavement remain or is it mostly dirt once again?

Be careful! There's a few dangerous spots, but you will be fine in a small car. Just be aware of the trouble spots. I drove a Jetta up there a few weeks ago.

It must have really been something to see when that landslide of humongous boulders came down off that granite wall!

Any estimate on how far out of town we might end up? We are coming in from San Ignacio, so won't get there early...

and one of us has "iffy" feet.

Willing to do it, though. I would really like to go to the festival.

Thanks so much for the info!

You won't have any problems getting to San Javier. Work crews are working on it now and cars are getting thru with no problems.

I was on it today.

Thanks TW. Any ideas on how congested it tends to be on the last day of the festival?

Sorry but I've never been to the festival. I will be going back over it on Wednesday as we make our way to La Paz by San Javier and follow the Baja 1000 course. If I gather any info I'll post it.
