Confrontation at San Ysidro

I don't know whether they wanted to come into the United States or were just fed up with the slow border crossing.

A group of 100 Mexican nationals illegally crossed into the United States and attacked U.S. Border Patrol Agents with rocks and bottles, according to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agency (CBP).
The violent group was allowed to run back into Mexico and were permitted to disperse by Mexican authorities without being arrested or otherwise suffering any consequences for their brutal attacks on U.S. law enforcement.
The attack occurred in southern California on November 24, 2013. According to the official CBP press release:
… more than 100 people illegally crossed the International Border from Mexico one-quarter-mile west of the San Ysidro Port of Entry in the Tijuana River channel. The group advanced toward a Border Patrol agent positioned one-eighth of a mile north of the border. The agent ordered the group to stop. The group ignored his commands and continued to advance. The agent deployed his PepperBall Launcher System, an intermediate use-of-force device, in an effort to stop the group and protect himself. The crowd failed to respond appropriately...
Numerous agents responded to the scene as the crowd became increasingly unruly and began throwing rocks and bottles. The crowd struck several agents in the arms and legs with rocks; one agent was hit in the head with a filled water bottle. Agents deployed several intermediate use-of-force devices and Mexican law enforcement authorities were contacted. The use of intermediate use-of-force devices eventually caused the group to return to Mexico and disperse.
The CBP also stated: “No one was arrested and no one was able to continue north.”
This large-scale incursion and attack on U.S. soil thankfully occurred in an area where a large number of Border Patrol agents were available for back up. A recent effort by open-borders groups to prevent Border Patrol agents from defending themselves in such circumstances failed. They argued that Border Patrol agents should not be allowed to respond with deadly force to being attacked with improvised weapons like rocks and bottles, even if the Border patrol agent was alone and outnumbered in a desolate area where their radios often do not work.

There were a couple of cell phone photos posted (related to the attack) and two made it to the local tv stations.

The double (or is it triple?) fence ('wall') isn't doing a very good job... So, is stationing the military along our border the only way to counter an invasion of this kind?

DAVID you cant have it both ways, Seal the Border and still Keep The Baja as your personal Playground.
Besides you should know that they cant use the Military as that would be declared as a ACT OF WAR.

"Discussion Forum" J.P. can you discuss ideas?

*) Not my post, I was just responding with a question.
*) I have never thought of Baja as being a personal playground... I share what I know about Baja hoping others can benefit. I have no secret surf breaks or camp sites. Baja has room for everyone, specially since any of us only are at those places a brief time in a whole year.
*) Sealing the border to ILLEGAL CROSSING at NON-BORDER CROSSING LOCATIONS is wrong, really?

looks to me they are doing a super job of sealing the border at ponits where you and i cross. but the remote areas remain as porous as ever. there has to be a better way.

Sure... if Mexico had more freedom then there would be more opportunity. Corruption on a national scale has been a way of life and limits the opportunities to many.

If there is more opportunity north of the border, then expect those seeking it cross north.

Solutions?:
A) Reduce America's prosperity so we are more like Mexico (called "fairness" by one political group).
B) Increase Mexico's prosperity so Mexicans can have enough opportunities in their own country (called "free market capitalism" by a different political group).

Personally I prefer to raise up people rather than lower them down.

Get caught trying to run past an immigration checkpoint on the mainland, and the migras Mexicanos will arrest a person, the cops will beat them up, steal everything but the clothes on their back, then deport them.

Mexico also encourages police to demand people who do not look Mexican to show proof of legality when asked to do so at retenes and puestos de controles. This is sort of, p-r-o-f-i-l-i-n-g in the most blatant way.

So the pro indocumentos group is being a little stupid besides unfair in their ranting and raving.

I'm just stating fact. Wanna see the shortest demonstration in the world?

Have a group of gringos gather in Mexico, wave signs and American flags protesting the policies of the Mexican government.

It's obviously a quote from the CBP press release, so some one at the press office wrote it.

If these vandals had any intentions of crossing for noble reasons, that's probably where they would have made their attempt.
These people were trouble looking for trouble. Nice to see they were accommodated.

A long time ago, there was a flotilla of people trying to make an illegal crossing from Minnesota into Ontario near my home on the Rainy River.

It was stopped quickly though...after the RCMPs and border officials yelled out.

"Would you folks please not do that?"

...good they weren't part of the insurgent group,,,
........or the BP's would be complaining 'bout golf-shot's to their tender parts!

.......interesting speculation by one of the commenters.............Michael Coburn · Works at SELF
''Im a american living in México saw the crowd building and people passing out money. This was a diversión to occupy border patrol while something else went across.''
.......seems political,,though they'd probably make a stronger 'statement' if they tried it with 50,000 though.:wow:

....and whut's with those who brought kids along?....or the guy on crutches???...what -really- were they thinking?????:?:

I'm sure they would, but maybe not in Rio. :light:
Traditionally, Mexico doesn't do too well in team sports. They're more of a nation of individuals, although their futbol/soccer teams have excelled in the past, in spite of their famed goalie [what was his name...Jorge Campos or something like that] designing and wearing his own uniform. Freakin' egomaniac was even allowed to get away with it.

Probably paid to be there. The diversion story makes sense even if it was a rehearsal for the big one.

Mood: Enjoying Life with Wife In Mexico, Easy on The Easy

Watch the video closely and see the guy in the shirt and tie directing this group. Additionally, watch as the group is directed again and again to go forward, when they actually start the speeding up rush toward border patrol officer watch the guy with the backpack begin to climb over the fence before the person doing this video takes the camera away from his climb over the fence. So, what was in the backpack and who is the guy in the shirt and tie directing this illegal confrontation of our border patrol agents?

Now, for those that think Americans have to accept other countries lawbreakers and accept this kind of conduct your nuts. Try this with people coming from Central American countries rushing as a group into Mexico and see what would happen. Tired of those on this site pushing against law enforcement or government officials doing their jobs. I stay in Mexico but I do it by their rules and do not attack any of their government officers or officials, so stop the nutty statements about since we are going into Baja we have to accept law breakers doing stupid dangerous stuff like this. Enough is enough live and let live but do it by the rules of the Country you are living in or visiting. Respect and being law abiding is something all of us should be doing at all times. However, we do not have to excuse dangerous actions such as these which are only testing Border Patrol to see what they can get by with. If it was the other way around Mexico would be screaming for our Country to control its citizens. Oh, they would also tell us to go pick up those that had been shot attacking their officers or soldiers. Again, stop the dang law enforcement bashing and attacks on Customs or Border Patrol enough is enough already.

Too many good things in life to enjoy without allowing support for things like this, as it only puts all of us on edge besides being very dangerous for all involved. Don't let idiots like these make you feel sorry for them or encourage them because they could care less about your safety or your families safety.

It is tough enough to get friends and family to visit Baja or mainland Mexico without these types of things making them think Mexico encourages unlawful actions within it border due to corruption. Take Care & Travel Safe----------------- "No Hurry, No Worry, Just FUN" bajafun777
