Mexico to close border checkpoints for program "Support Borderlands"

President Enrique Pena announced the elimination of 12 border checkpoints as part of Support Borderlands.

In its message, the president stressed that this decision was taken because the booths "are meaningless" after approval of tax reform.

The checkpoint booths to be closed are;
Sonora: Mututicachi
Chihuahua: The Port of Janos, Samalayuca, The Peguis, La Mula
Ciudad Mier: Paras, Arcabuz, KM 35
Chiapas: Mexico Alive, Tzimol, Quija

Pena Nieto announced that he will continue progressively removing more checkpoints throughout the country.
