Need lodging in La Paz
Howdy all,
The mamasita and I decided to spend Xmas in Baja and would like to spend a day or two in La Paz. We're looking for a moderately priced nice hotel
near the touristy stuff. We have spent a lot of time in Baja but have never seen the older section of La Paz. I'm usually pulling a boat in Baja and
La Paz ain't the city for that.
Any suggestions of things to see or exceptional restaurants is also appreciated.

Hardly know where to start for eats, there's mil places to eat depending on your desires and wallet. As for accommodations, Casa Tuscany is right in
the heart of downtown and not too expensive. On the other hand there is a beautifully restored old colonial house with a pool in centro that is
highly recommended and extremely reasonable. You can view it at: www.vrbo.com search for rental number 222432. Many more choices available. We live in centro and you can pm us for restaurant info. Actually La
Paz is not that hard to navigate and/or park in if you don't mind walking 3-4 blocks.

Casa Tuscany is very near the malecon but on a very quiet street. The owner speaks English, if that is helpful.

and right up the street from Tuscany is a restaurant named LA FONDA, if it is still there, it had traditional Mexican fare at a reasonable price.

I liked casabuena, but
I wouldn't call it a nice place in the tourist area.
It's adequate. The people are really nice. The price is ridiculously low.
But it's pretty spartan and a bit of a hike down to the water.
And B & B would be a stretch. For breakfast, there were some hard rolls and cereal that had been there the day before.
Don't get me wrong. I like the place. It just doesn't sound like what they might be looking for.

Casa Buena. It is rustic, to be sure, and, it is not close to the water or the boardwalk or to downtown..about 3 miles away. Also, Sequoyah is right
about the lack of a real breakfast.
BUT, I love the place and Su Su and Milton. The grounds are nice, cozy, informal, comfortable and comforting and welcoming. The cabana is huge
picturesque. You can use the kitchen and their refrigerator any time you want. It is peaceful, secure and it definitely feels like home away from
home. A genuine family atmosphere. I attribute all that to Milton and Su Su.
In my view, the experience more than makes up for the lack of breakfast, distance from the water and El Centro. I stayed there when I was having my
house prepared for move in. I loved every second of it. I lament not having to stay there since my place was completed. And, if and when I sell my
place, I will stay at Casa Buena in the future.
PS: There is the best laundry service in all of Baja across the street at the lowest rates. Open every day and very, very reliable. I use it
exclusively as I do not have a washer and dryer at my house. Gives me the pleasure of passing by Casa Buena as well.
