CFE online bill pay
I am having issues with using the "pay online" feature on the CFE website.
It won't accept my Banamex card and pops up with the words "declinado" or declined. Not only once, but each and everytime I use that feature.
Not only with the Banamex card, but with a combination of debit cards and CC issued in the USA......."declinado" everytime.
I know the Banamex card is valid and works....it used it in the Ensenada Costco just a couple of weeks ago. Bingo and out I go, bill paid.
Yes there is sufficient funds in the accounts......yes I entered the numbers correctly.
I know I can pay at any bank or at the local CFE office. However that does me little good when I am not in MX and the bill is due.
I have tried for a year now to set up an auto pay debit from this Banamex account and for whatever reason, it has not happened yet.
I have applied, cancelled and re-applied for the auto pay....nada zip to date.
Banamex did get the Telmex bill on auto pay but the CFE is giving me fits.
Auto pay is my preference but I need another option to pay the CFE bill until the auto pay kicks in so when I am out of MX, I can get the bill paid.
Question is:....does anyone use the "pago en linea" feature on the CFE site to pay your bill?
Works for you?...

We pay in advance. We go in and put down a deposit so we always have a credit balance.

We have paid our CFE online for over a year now and it has worked fine, but I actually pay it through our bank (Bancomer) website which has a "pago de
servicios" section where you enter the info from your CFE bill and the amount due gets transfered to CFE and paid that way. It's not automatic - you
have to enter the info yourself and be sure you do it on time, but it works very smoothly.
Does the Banamex online service have a similar non-autopay option for bill paying? - maybe it would work if you try to set it up to pay through the
bank website instead of directly on the CFE website? Good luck!

I always maintain a credit balance with CFE, but then again I go to Baja just about every other month. I pay enough to make sure that I maintain a
minimum balance of no less than $500 pesos.
Caveat: If you prepay, maintain your own records of your credit balance. I have maintained my own formal accounting record of my balance for the
past six consecutive years. The CFE office in La Paz has made errors in that time in their record of my credit balance (3 times), always not in my
favor.
I have had to provide receipt proof (I always pay at the CFE office and always obtain physical receipts for the balance before a payment, receipt for
payment, then a balance after the payment) to prove to them that they are wrong. Haven't met anyone in Mexico that understands debits and credits
very well. Actually, that goes for the USA as well, come to think of it.

I haven't paid CFE direct from the CFE site, but I have paid it online from both Bancomer (my usual account) and Banamex (my spare account). As
bajalinda mentioned, it's not automatic, I just go to the bank website to pay once a month. The new and improved Bancomer web site design this month
has made the process much easier.
To set it up on Banamex online banking, go to Administración, Otras Cuentas, Servicios, then search for and click on the CFE logo and follow the
prompts. To pay in future months it's the Pagos, Servicios option.
Have you tried paying again from the CFE site, a business day or two later? The Telnor site was rejecting all credit card payments earlier this week,
it was a problem with the payment processor gateway, but it worked fine again a day later. Maybe it was a widespread problem.

Thanks Rob....convoluted it is to get there, but I found it.
Now I will have to wait until the next bill comes out and see if it works.
Why it wanted me to change my "clave de accesso" is beyond me.
I have tried the CFE online "pago en linea" a few times.....earlier this month and just in the last few days. No workie a total of 4 times.
The local CFE office was clueless.
Last gasp option will be to open a Bancomer account again and use it just for the auto pay feature.
Again.....thanks.

The status on the CFE website will change when they've received and processed the payment (usually takes a few business days). In other words, the
"Estado del recibo" will change to "Pagado" at the bottom of the information block on the right of the page, after you've signed on to your account at
the CFE site. No need to wait until the next bill.

Are we having fun yet?
This used to be a family joke when situations became absurd . The la paz office told some students I help with expenses that they could not prepay
their elec bill with extra cash sufficient to cover next month when they wont be there.....
Whatever.....and only in Mexico.
