We love the washes around Catavina. We will drive up one until we comfortable or worried about getting stuck and start walking. We have spent more then a couple of winter days wandering around. Like Joshua Tree only bigger.

So far, my favorite hike has been from the parking lot to the club. But I will be watching this thread to file some other hikes that I will choose each time I go south. I hope to see many added here. Thanks Baja Lucy.

Funny @ baja learner :yes: Thank you @MMc yep I seen place in Catavina looking like Joshua.. It's amazing... I think Baja or the Government of turismo should spend some time adding some trails. It would be Awesome as many people from all over the work love to explore. Hiking-Enjoying everything about Nature I'm one of them :bounce: It would be nice if Explores go and have some marking signs that way we won't get lost :) Same time anyone can explore around but just knowing where to Explore would help the whole Excursion :yes:

My friend, I see where we differ. I don't want the governemnt to get involved in a nature area, public or private unless absolutly nesessary. That is one of the things I like most about Baja. We can make our own adventures.

Thanks for the information, I really appreciate it and will file it for a future adventure. :)

Mike's mountain for the view. In reality, you can hike darn near anywhere and find things interesting to look at... plant, animal, or mineral.

Hey BajaLucy......good idea for a thread! I haven't done a search here on Nomad for hikes. MMc's Catavina idea is a good one. All the washes head somewhere - a perfect nature made trail.

I don't have any to recommend that I can think of. Let's try that Catavina idea next trip south.

Nice avatar BTW......naca. :lol::lol:

A great hike would be from San Javier to the Comondus...the last long stretch on el camino real so worn on the rocky mountain down down into the Comondu valley is incredible.

Also from R. Compostela over the mesa then down into Mission San Borja.

And last but not least that loooong route from the coast south of Agua Verde....the hike from Rancho Los Dolores northward. That route is a lifetime route......R. Los Dolores is accessible by feet or panga but once there what a hike.

The hikes out of Punta San Jose noth or south are very cool. We hiked from PSJ to Punta China alnog the cliffs one day, it was very cool. We were scouting it for a drive. The walk is a lot of fun, decided not to try the drive.

It is very hard to spell adventure with a "A" any more. If you are not comfortable with hiking around Cativina with out "guides" maybe you should not be going? If you are kinda unsure, use the idea of bread crumbs. Make sure you pick up or knock down what ever you use, nothing permanent. That area already has to much paint and crap.

Compostela to San Borja, and the rest of the Sierra Camino Real from Santa Gertrudis to San Borja...

I have long loved the hike up Guadalupe Canyon from the Hot Springs campgrounds up to "the pools" and back. Did it many times back in the '60's.

That whole plateau is incredible.

I last was on Blue Bottle in 1973 with the late great Baja icon, Bud Bernhard. Speaking of hikes, we had just finished up a 10 day or so plateau backpack to the mission and surrounding area. A 75 yr old woman was on that trip, Louise Werner, who w her husband, had Desert Magazine. Such memories......:)
