Otay Mesa declare on Sunday?

We have driven to La Paz many times but have not needed to declare at the border.

Planning to cross at Otay Mesa on Sunday and have cabinets to declare. Can that be done on Sunday?

bajarich posted in the following thread that he was turned back on a Sunday because no Broker was available until Monday to deal with his boat motor. http://forums.bajanomad.com/viewthread.php?tid=71564

Depends on the declared value.

You do not need a broker if the value (after your exemption) is under $1,500 USd/person and $3,000/vehicle. Not sure what the current exemption value is, per person. $150 ???

Yes, you can declare on Sunday, and bring a receipt with the purchase price so you can expedite the paperwork if necessary.

Will it suffice to have receipts for the materials used in building these cabinets?

I'm sure it would. A receipt is just a piece of paper with some printing on it.
