Q for all the pilots out there

Our son-in-law (USN Ret'd, Research prof at Naval Post Grad Inst in Monterey, CA) is looking at flying down to see us in his little Piper. I've been
trying to dig up info on use of the military airport here, as I understand it handles General Aviation traffic also. But one is to 'obtain
permission' prior to arrival. How does one do that? And is it necessary to clear into Mexico in TJ first? Or will they do the customs/immigration
process for an arrival in a private plane locally? Any insights much appreciated!

which airport does he want to clear in to? BBP is where he starts but he'll need to join as a member to get all the special info he'll need especially
the new eAPIS requirements crossing both ways.
i don't know where punta banda is therefore the Q as to what airport. If it is Ensenada yes you can clear in there and buy gas. But you need all your
paperwork avail and in order.

You have the biggest map of Baja in the world!
Punta Banda is the long peninsula that creates the bay of Ensenada (Ensenada de Todos Santos). Near the end of Punta Banda is the La Bufadora wave
created waterspout.
The closest airport is the La Grulla Gun Club runway (if open)... it is even on the AAA map, above. Otherwise it is the Ensenada International
Airport, just north, used by the military as well. Originally built by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for coastal defence of the United States, in
1942. Called El Ciprés airport because it was well south of Ensenada, at the time!

ha! yur phunnie DK. I am too lazy to hunt places... but i kinda thought it was close to Ensenada, which is a fun airport i've been in and out of many
times. Just watch the fog....it will bite you!!
