Self-guided travel options to San Ignacio

This is a website I created many years ago and have not updated for a while, but for those considering driving/camping at San Ignacio lagoon it provides some useful info.

Drive safely and have fun!

Self-guided Travel Info for San Ignacio lagoon

Some images from past trips: young calf coming in for a visit:

First encounter; many people have told me this experience is on their bucket list:

How to drive there: from town of San Ignacio, head southwest, look for these signs:

Road to lagoon (panorama style): paved for first 22 miles, rough for last 20. Areas actively under construction, still very rough in many places: If you are driving a standard vehicle be prepared to go very slowly. Heavy equipment is working during day.

\"Probably the airplanes will bring week-enders from Los Angeles before long, and the beautiful poor bedraggled old town will bloom with a Floridian ugliness.\" (John Steinbeck, 1940, discussing the future of La Paz, BCS, Mexico)
