Gas stations in Ensenada recorded a fall in sales ranging from 25 to 30 percent, said Juan Manuel Arellano Lara, President of the Association Gasolineros Ensenada, adding that this is a consequence of the scenic road closed and the declining purchasing power of citizens before the tax changes approved this year.
Arellano Lara noted that the effect of the road is manifested in two ways: firstly fewer tourists visiting the city and the other, less people Ensenada loading gasoline to travel to Tijuana or the United States.

On the other hand, he said, have felt strong effects on the economy of citizens related to the increase in fuel and tax reforms, especially the increase of five percentage points in the Value Added Tax.

Given this, said Juan Manuel Arellano, the Ensenada (and generally the residents of the border area) have acted with some warmth to the impositions and have not protested strongly enough.
