Ricardo's prices are up...... $10 for a marg last month.

Lotsa places in San Ignacio.....

But, prices are up in lots of places.

With this lime cost issue, the end of the world just gets a bit closer....;D

muchas gracias for all the info!

unfortunately our favorite place in San Quintin, JARDINES, is booked the night we are going to be there; I suppose due to 'Spring Break'

we have our 2 old gatos with us so we don't want to be driving around trying to find a place in S.Ignacio.

when I last went thru, Ricardo was doing a sell job to get me to stay on our next trip, touting how well priced his rooms are, so I hope they haven't gone up dramatically......the usual Mexican way that when business is down, prices go up!

The San Felipe Rice and Beans retaurant is run by Ricardo's brother, who could give you the San Ignacio contact details... Bummer that they can't keep a free email address like hotmail or post current contact details! I have stayed at the Rice and Beans motel in San Ignacio and eaten at Ricardo's restaurant a few times... all was good. The mango margaritas will keep you coming back!

yeah, I didn't think fast enuf to ask for the other number and now I can't find it.....won't bother any more; we should get to SI early enuf to be able to find another place if they don't have a room or even get to Sta Rosalia. Been doing it for 20 years, so we know the ropes; as said, just didn't want to prolong the day with our dos gatos who will need water and litter box, as they WILL NOT do either one when on the move.

...about that "business is down, prices go up" idea....business is booming in San Ignacio and tourism is certainly picking up...but the real crux of the issue with rising prices is the new tax increase which has made everything in baja way more expensive...all the hotel and business operators are paying far more for things and so are forced to raise their prices...it's economics.

But Shari $10 for a margarita :?:

When I was in Ensenada last weekend everyone was using lemons instead of limes so I asked and they said it was due to the price of the limes being so high. At the grocery store yesterday here in Bakersfield the price was not much different. Must be a Mexico thing I guess.

Stayed there a couple of times. First was planned. Second was just due to how far we had traveled. The restaurant was OK. But the rooms, at least in the main building, were very old and tired.

The observation about raised prices for drinks, in particular has been observed and reported on by friends of mine.

Last time we stayed in San Ignacio, and I know that evryone has their faves, including Casa Leree, and San Ignacio Springs, we stayed at the old Desert Inn, or whatever it may be called now, and it was actually much more comfortable than Ricardos.
