Any Baja Nomads in New Mexico?

I've explored Baja for many years, and now live in New Mexico and miss it badly. I'd like to know if any Nomads live near me (Santa Fe)?

And, I am an adventure travel guide around the Southwest, also taking small groups to Baja a couple times a year and to Botswana, where I used to live. I'd love to connect with folks when I'm in Baja, and even explore some more places.
I'm passionate about Baja and would love to share it with an unattached man…here's some pics on my website: www.timelessjourneys.net

Deborah, I heard that when Mexicans sneak across the border into New Mexico and they get caught by border patrol, they just say "I'm a New Mexican" and they let them go. Can that be true?

The answer is yes. I will let them volunteer, but you can see Nomad locations with posts.

I envy you providing adventure tours... Another Nomad and I started a tour company in 2001, but other than leading a few Amigos de Baja/Baja Nomad group day tours for fun, I had always wanted to do it as a business... To work and live in Baja the rest of my life.

Between 9-11-01 and the economy crashing, the planned Viva Baja Tour Company didn't get beyond a couple of trial runs... which were great fun for all on board.

Hola Deborah,

Familiar theme. Been there and done that, too. NOLS in East Africa a long time ago, many years in Baja, plus a few months studying at Las Cruces. As for your question of New Mexicans on this forum, I have several NM amigos who are 'lurking' here, but never post. They do read the forum regularly, though, as they all have personal Baja interests.

A couple from Silver City (retired teachers turned hobby ranchers), another couple from Sante Fe (horse boarding and alpine warfare instruction, retired), a single from Santa Fe (painter & collector), another from Cloudcroft,(film editor) and still more from Ruidoso. Many of them are winter-time residents of Baja and ALL are adventurers. A couple are wilderness instructors & guides, like yourself. The same sense of 'What's out there? & I can do it.' present in Baja lovers seems to exist in New Mexicans also. So much the better.

Please post some of your trips..Baja or otherwise. I'm positive you'll make some contacts and new friends.

I've spent some time around Albuquerque. Totally miss the food. Sadie's, Rancho de Corrales and Garduno's were three of my favorite Mexican food restaurants.

Chile rellenos and sopaipillas! Man, I get over there!

Chile rellenos in Las Cruces! While in college there for a short while, I fell in love with a rancher's daughter and that hearty, spicy dish..chile rellenos. Great picnics!

Only every couple of years do we visit NM. One of my favorite places to snap photos.

...and my favorite place in NM to sip a Margie and eat green chilies.

Small world, Wonderer, I was at NMSU, Las Cruces in 1968. Did not graduate there, though.
