For travelers and revelers it starts on Thursday, April 17 and ends Sunday, April 20. Of course there will always be those who start early and finish late because they either really know how to party or they are very religious or both.

What is the total vacation period, 2 weeks, of Semana Santa and the other semana? I never heard of just a 4 day vacation?

The entire week is "technically" Semana Santa.

But eighty-five percent of the "action" on the beaches happens between Wednesday PM and Sunday 0900. Late Sunday, the vacation spots resemble "The Day After". Hint: The mangroves grow REALLY fast for a month afterward.
