Lunch in Rosarito. restaurant recommendations

I live in Tijuana and want to have lunch in circa Rosarito beach area so I hope to get a couple recommendations for restaurants.

I was at a place a few years ago south of Rosarito off the free road a few hundred yards toward the shore. It was a bar/restaurant with good food and gringos telling lies. I would like to go there again.

I haven't been in a while, but have had some great lunches at Los Pelicanos over the years.

From your description it sounds like you went to Splash

http://www.splashcantina.com/aboutsplashcantina.html

Another lunch favorite if you want ambiance is Los Pelicinos as it is on the beach, but it is the center of Rosarito.

Splash is great! One of my favorites! I had dinner at Paradise Cove a few months ago and it was very good. I would eat there again. Also try The Point, which is the new restaurant inside the hotel at Calafia.

I like Pepe's roadside stand for burgers or hot dogs.

I like the place right on the corner by Home Depot for birria or tacos

There is a carnitas place on the main road very near to Pepe's, it's a large yellowish building, says Carnitas on the side, I don't remember the name.

Or keep driving, go to Puerto Nuevo, eat at El Pescador.

If you want to stay close to TJ, there are some really excellent places in Playas.

Thanks. I am venturing today for a motorcycle ride in that area. I will drift by those places and check out the scenery.

I did try El Nido while back and enjoyed it but when spring is springing, I like to sit outside with a view of the water. I have a favorite spot on the cliff edge in Puerta Nuevo.

If you like carnitas, try La Flor de Michoacán, I've been eating there since the mid 60's

I have been eating carnitas at La Flor de Michoacan for years. Family owned and operated, great food.

I stopped by the other day and ate Caldo de 7 Mares (Fish soup of the Seven Seas) at Mariscos El Poder on the corner near Ortega's buffet. I used to always eat there and I got a bad case of food poisoning for days. Don't think I will go back there again. The shrimp tacos tasted rancid as well. Used to be a dependable good, fresh seafood place. Vince's a few blocks down from the Carnival Hotel is very good, I will go there for soup next time.
