Helicopter Ride to Baja June 24-26 with Cameron Steele tour.

I wasn't sure until tonight, but as it is really 'off road' and for off road racing TV host Cameron Steele's tour group: I am being flown down to meet up with them somewhere south of Colonet and visit the missions at Santo Domingo, El Rosario and San Fernando. I will try and take lots of photos and share here after we get back Thursday PM. I presume the helicopter is for TV footage, such as seen on Cameron's Rip to Cabo annual event.

I have never been in a copter before, so this should be fun!:bounce:

Stay tuned for a trip report in 3-4 days!

Cameron's groups often come right through our "front yard"...the lagoon of San Antonio del Mar (immediately west of Colonet). Our house is the only red roof in the area. There is a cluster of four casitas about 1/2 mile back from the beach, north side of lagoon If you can, please take a pic, as we have been there over 20 years and have never seen it from the air.
I envy you...have a blast!

I sure will... the old Johnson Ranch, correct?
Leaving about 1pm. Have my passport. I think we clear into Mexico at Ensenada airport?
Hope the June Gloom burns away.

Yep, we are about a mile due west of Johnson ranch.
Don't know about clearing thru Ensenada...I tried to arrange a light plane trip awhile back and it was going to require a TJ clearance and way more money than I could afford.
You lucky dog

Take a large zip lock bag with you... Seriously. Flying in a helicopter is WAY different than a fixed wing. If you don't need it, the person beside you might!!

Stop it you guys!

Anyway, it is just the pilot and I flying down. He will know what airport he needs to clear through.

Cameron left San Clemente at 5 am and is leading about a dozen trucks south past Laguna Hanson and out to the coast near San Vicente then south to Mission Santo Domingo. I think we will land somewhere near there and I will transfer into one of the trucks? One night at San Quintin and one at Solosports at Punta San Carlos... off roading to Mission San Fernando and El Rosario's mission on one of the legs to San Carlos.

I need to get going, so thanks for the advice and cheers... As always, I will be sharing my trip with you all! Hasta Pronto Amigos!

Enjoy the ride DK. Four wheeling is fun, but flying over it all is had to beat, especially with a helicopter where you can land almost anywhere and explore terrain you could never access any other way.

Helicopter flying is counter-intuitive in that it is incredibly quiet on board and very stable. Far less chance of getting sick that on a small plane.
