Didn't find an answer under search - Is there a bus from the Cabo airport to Mulege? Anyone know when it runs, etc.? Can I rent a car in Mulege?
Thanks ;)

Yes, you can catch a bus to Mulege via La Paz.
I, personally, don't know the details.

Rent a car at the airport in Cabo or La Paz, possibly Loreto.
No car rental in Mulege.

Seems like you could rent a car at the airport or consider the bus options which might require a transfer in La Paz.

I like eco baja tours from the airport to la paz malecon and it looks like a ABC, Aguila or Ejectivo might have buses to Mulege. But by bus, once in Mulege you would not have a car. Car rental also exists in La Paz or Loreto. You are best off to rent and return at the same location or you pay an extra drop off fee. There is a chance you would require an overnight in La Paz. Best case, you make your eco baja tour reservation from SJD -> LAP (3 hours) with enough time to catch the bus after clearing customs (45 min), arrive at LAP malecon and buy the next option (5 hours) to Loreto, pick up the rent a car and go, return in reverse. Or shuttle from SJD to SJ bus depot, buy the RT ticket and go might save a few pesos but likely more time. Buses tend to run every 2-3 hours during the day time hours in general.

Driving direct from SJD to Mulege is 666.9 km ~ 10-15 hours
So the most convenient and fast is to rent but also most expensive. Bus trip could easily become a very long day or 1.5 days depending on flight times.

mulege has 3800 people...no car rental

without a car in Baja you will have a hard time...rent a car

the bus price is about the same as gas for a small car for one person

Absolutely rent a car if you're flying into the southland and planning to do some exploring. A sub-compact car will get you to many beautiful beaches even on dirt roads, but you can rent a 4x4 if you want an truly off-road experience. Have fun!

yes - rent a car! then visit san Ignacio for the mission and the museum/bookstore and then campo rene for a wonderful lunch locale, then abreojos for the exquisite views of the sweeping beach,of course visit Les and Blanca in La Bocana and stay the night here and perhaps head north to Asuncion to meet Shari and the gang! Bring a sweatjacket.

If you like the out of the way places. Even if you stay in Mulege and Loreto, there is so much to do with all the beaches - Concepcion etc! and it is hot, swimsuit needed.

Have fun, wherever you go.

Come visit La Bocana

All of the above is absolutely correct, with the possible exception of the commercial for Ascunion area, that is considerably out of your way unless you have lots of time to explore. Apologies to Blanca.:P
