Ck in Fish tube Alaskan Airlines Question?????

I am flying Alaskan Air and read on the Rancho Leonaro site that passengers can only bring 4 poles per person. I have 8 poles to put in my rod holder for my family and wondering if there is pole limit on the number of poles during check in per rod holder (it cost 25 dollars a pole tube). Are they strict on the numbers or can you jam in or are you able cram as many as you want? What is your experience?
Thanks Mike

No first hand experience but the airport at Cabo is the one that enforces the 4 rod rules per passenger. I would assume that it is not Alaska Al as I have flown to PV as recently as Feb 2014 and I had 6-7 rods in my rod tube and I was the only passenger. You will probably need to have your family traveling with you and associated with your one rod tube to bypass the import tax. Again, it is not Alaska AL that is enforcing the rules but it is Mexican customs and the import duty that they imposed on the excess rods. They do not enforce this rule in PV but I do know that they do this in Cabo.

Hi Mike,

I may be the reason Rancho Leonero posted this rule. After 50+ trips I was stopped at customs and asked how many fishing rods were in my tube, I had 6 and traveling solo. I was escorted to a room, and then asked what the value was of my rods. I stated $50 each. He then asked if that included the reels, I said lets call it $100 each. So I was charged for the 2 extra rods, if I remember correctly about $60 US Dollars.

My understanding is that you will be OK, travelers are allowed 6 rods each, and all in one tube is OK.

Have fun, sounds like they have a great bite happening.
