I enjoyed every show he was in, movies and TV. One scene I really liked was a Rockford File show where he rented a car that talked and he got so
discussed with it that at the end he started ripping all the wires out of it.

In 1967 during the 1st Baja 1000 when I lived with Mama Espinoza in El Rosario I remember seeing James Garner driving a white Ford Bronco as he made
the left turn at the corner of Mama Espinoza's Restaurant. Back then the road was not asphalted and as the racers made the left turn rocks and dirt
sprayed all over the place. I hope he recovers soon.

I hope he recovers soon too, David. But, on behalf of the Platoon, I have to warn you to not get your hopes up too much. Living through one's death is
quite rare in the real world.
I always thought that, as Hollywood people go, Jim Garner would be a good guy to have on the other side of a campfire with some beers.

Yes, RIP Mr. Handsome
He was also very funny and self-deprecating and he seemed to sail through life in the Hollywood celebrity thing without taking it too seriously.
I watch the re-runs of his TV shows (Maverick, Rockford Files) and they still stand up as good entertainment.

Jaime here,
My thoughts are with all the family and friends of James Garner. He was a great man for Baja.
My smidgen of a claim to fame is that I have had so many really good friends. By Bernie Swaim December 2007

I actually got to know "Jim" up close and personal, spending 3 days with him at the Ontario Motor Speedway in the early 70's. Went driving with him
(and learned a few things) and we went out to dinner (he paid). Great guy, he was not on an ego trip about his star status, great sense of humor.

Hi Jaime
So nice to see you posting here.
I miss your man, Bernie and his posts.
In my mind I link him with James Garner having the same kind of character, except that James Garner was an actor and Bernie did heroic things in real
life.

OK, Baja Guy
Mea Culpa.
I read Mr. Garner's obit today and it made no mention of his heroic service in that unacknowledged and uncredited war.
Right now, I have even more regard and respect for him.

Oh, c'mon, Terry. you know those decorations aren't won. They're earned....the hard way.
Used to be a guy here in PB called affectionately, Manson Mike for his scruffy ugliness. Well, he had five from Nam. Had to sign a waiver after two,
or three, I forget.
He should have had a couple more for the way his head turned out.
Nice guy, ol' Mike.

"It's Norma at the market. It bounced. You want me to tear it up, send it back, or put it with the others?"
From The Kirkoff Case.
Or: "Jim, it's Beth. You have the vet's number, the flea collar and extra litter. One thing I forgot, keep him away from the other cats. He's not very
discriminating."
god, those were funny.
At one time, SWMBO and I could lip-sync the entire 5 seasons.
