Powder actuated fastening tool
Has anyone had any experience with taking a powder concrete fastening system (Hilti or the like) south? I'd like to make use of one for my Mulege
build, but knowing how sensitive the gov't is about anything resembling firearms, I'm somewhat concerned. The tool itself doesn't look like a
firearm, but the loads look like .22 shells (which they basically are).

They are common in the building trades down here, I don't think you will have any problems. You might put a skill saw, hammer and other hand tools
with it so it will be considered "tools of the trade".

I was afraid to try taking them. I used a roto hammer and red head anchors to avoid the possibility. Good luck if you do.

down here in mulege they call them a
"hilti gun"...
every good contractor has one
they sell them at home depot in Ensenada and the nails

I'd recommend you keep the blanks with the Hilti. I have been told even .22 cal. blanks are illegal, so have them all in one package to explain their
presence. Otherwise, they'll rip you apart looking for your .22 . Wherever you'll be building, you should have someone check the nearest Ferreteria
to see if the loads are available there, so you don't have to worry about the Army checkpoints at all; that'd be your safest bet. So would be a
hammer-drill, and molly-anchors.
I don't have a BUCKET LIST, but I do have a F***- IT LIST a mile long!

The problem with Hilti fasteners is that they are difficult to ever remove, I much prefer a good coated deck screw into a 3/16 plastic anchor.
