It is signed to have diesel, it is not open. They seem to only lack meters in the electrical sockets at the drop from the transformer. Word is that someone is trying to squeeze a little more money out of some one. tick.......tick.........tick.....Baja time.

NEWS FLASH.....NEWS FLASH....NEWS FLASH

THE PEMEX STATION OPENED YESTERDAY AT 6:00 AM!!!!!!!
the girls and I were going to Keykos for fish and pina coladas and saw the guy with his uniform on and Su said maybe it was a dress rehearsal...so we pulled in and VOILA they pumped my gas and cleaned both the front and back windows real nice!!!

I cant tell you how happy this makes me and the town. The hours are 6-10 and they do have diesel. The store wont be open for another month or so.

I also noticed that Hilario's gas pump was closed.

So Tim...maybe you can change the title to your post..to Pemex in Asuncion OPEN!!!

having a Pemex means ALOT to the local community as far as standard of living is concerned. Gas is an enormous expense for the locals who have to travel quite a bit for medical reasons, business and visiting family so this will save them money they can spend on food and things for their families

I dont think Hilario was making much on gas, he is getting up in age too and the family has other businesses so maybe he is relieved that he doesnt have to work so hard now. I plan on talking to him about it as we are pals. I dont know that his pump will be closed permanently.

I too love pina coladas and fish at 6:00 AM. Breakfast of Champions! :dudette::saint:;)

The Pemex should hire Hilario as a greeter, like Walmart.

Gato! That has a neat ring to it. If he still wants a job, perhaps the franchise could find a place for him. It would almost have to be easier than the way he was having to do business before.

This happened fast! Well...meaning that I was by there looking quite recently! With diesel in town, I never have to leave except to go to the bank. (next?) Since I hardly ever start my truck, this means to me a dependable schedule to refuel my moto with none of the cultural richness of watching Hilario open the pump, roll the liters back to zero with his thumb, close the door and try to over-fill my tank.:lol:

Why do people even need a Pemex in a town 2 miles long? ;)

I don't see anybody saying that there is an ATM. I guess this falls into a different department jurisdiction - i.e. some bank. Different paperwork and different expense. Has to be enough transactions to justify it.

this is indeed wonderful news! when we were there last Saturday, the station was not open but the guy was weeding the front garden and he was in uniform, so I figured it was not too far long before due date.

great news. congratulations Asuncion!

Alm...believe me, we really needed a Pemex! There are a few thousand inhabitants here, lots and lots of vehicles and the gas at Hilario's pump was very expensive. People travel alot between fish camps and need to make trips to Vizcaino, an 2 hour round trip for various reasons.

The telegraph office staff said there probably wont be an ATM as the issue is how expensive the armed trucks are...and they only come once or twice a week so even if there was a machine, it wouldnt be out of money alot too the same as the telegraph office.

I heard the store is a sure thing and the Mayoral family on the corner by the Pemex will run it.
