La Paz
Hola Amigos. My wife and I are planning our next trip to Baja, and this time we hope to make it to La Paz and spend 2 nights there. Any recomendations
for a place to stay and what we "must" see in La Paz? For a hotel I would be more interested in a place on a nice plaza amidst more local life than
being on the beach surrounded by other tourists. Since I have never been to La Paz any tips and info appreciated.

How about the La Perla Hotel, right there on the Malecón?
La Paz is a great city - it's real, low touristy. You will like it.

I like La Concha, tourist but the tourist are Mexicans. 5 minutes to the Malecon and downtown area and it has it's own beach> The tourists in La
Paz are not the Cabo crowd, gringos are definitely the minority. La Paz is a great city and has everything you may need,
Hand made fresh bagels and home made lox......yummy!

I have been told that the folks who own it, Cinzia and Roberto are wonderful, charming hosts, and run a very nice place.
Enjoy La Paz, there is a lot to do and see....try the Whale Museum

A couple of other nice B & B's. Casa Tuscany, on Bravo near Malecon, and Angel Azul, near the church. Both are very nice although Casa Tuscany is
our favorite.

There are lot's of beaches, mountains, historical sites, and cool things in the region... Click on my 2012 trip report link for a sample of the few

I post this basically everytime someone asks about La Paz, but it is far from exhaustive:
Find a map asap! Lot's of the shops and restaurants that cater to tourists will have a some nice, free paper maps for La Paz, Todos Santos and Los
Cabos
Rent stand up paddle boards at Harker Boards on the east/north end of the Malecon (good food there too!)
Take a boat ride to Isla Espiritu Santo and snorkel with the Seal colony (Baja Expeditions is a great outfit, or Mar y Adventuras)
Go to the Shack for happy hour and a burger (west/south end of the Malecon)
Rent a car and check out Todos Santos (kind of a yuppie place, but worth a look) then head down to Pescadero and Playa Los Cerritos for a beach day
and maybe surfing lessons?
Spend a day at Playas Tecolote and Balandra (there are shuttles from the Malecon to the beaches that run hourly)
Check out either the Bravo Market (corner of Bravo and Prieto, good prepared food at the counters) or the Madero Mercado in 'downtown' (Delgado y
Revolucion 1910)
Eat street tacos! (You'll be fine)
Stella had live music on Tuesday nights, but that may have just been during 'the season'
