I want to help down there

I want to go down and help either take supplies or rebuild, whatever. I was thinking bay of la because that is my go to spot but it looks like mulege will need way more help. I was wondering if anyone knows of a group that would be down there or going down that I could join or meet down there somewhere. Maybe Red Cross? I have personal tools and a solid jeep that can get through and over most anything minus giant rivers. I am watching the new storm because it would be pointless to go down and get stuck in that if takes the same path. I know a lot of people say just wait but I don't feel the locals can wait. If I can get this little trip going very soon does anybody know of any extra tools or a trailer or supplies like food water building materials that can be donated or purchased cheap. Everything I plan on doing will be out of my own pocket and not attached to a group or charity so I know that can be a big problem with donations. If anyone has any info or suggestions please let me know ASAP. I know it sounds a bit rushed and maybe foolish to try to drive down with all the damage and stuff but I don't want to be the guys just talking about how much it sucks and not actually doing anything to help the people and areas that have given me so much fun over the years. I'm not saying it will for sure happen but if I can get stuff together soon I will be pushing as hard as I can to get down there ASAP.

I will go down with you to Mulege. I have a couple of 4x4 dodges minus winch's.. It would be prudent to wait another day or two for most of the water to subside and also to see what and if Polo will bring a repeat. I will buy a sat phone for the trip. I just drove down the day after Norbert and back last week.

I'm sure the expert's that are North of the border and even north of two borders disagree but I can haul a lot of water and food/fuel in the trucks.

I'll U2 you my info..

Lots of opportunity to clean-up, shovel mud, cut out tree debris, remove broken concrete and crap, rebuild walls and drainage ditches. Be careful you don't hurt yourself with heavy items, catch dengue, become malnourished or overcome by bacterial infections. At the moment electricity, phone, gas, water and food are not consistently available in BCS.

Thanks, camo.......just be forewarned, building materials, new or used will be taxed going through the border regardless of their good intent.
Since this is your first post here, I'm not sure of what you know in this regard.

Heard you will need a barge to cross some of the arroyos . I would give it a few days. Also no fuel available so factor that in .

In past years following the hurricane friends did become very sick from dengue and/or bacterial infections along with dehydration resulting in a serious condition. Extraneros may be less aware of this syndrome and over-exert trying to help out without acclimating to the situation. Temps into october in the south can vary greatly per day 60-110F this time of year which is stressful to the body. Be very careful about exposure, mosquitos.

bigmike58: I want to go and help but cannot make it. I will loan you my Sat Phone (Irridium 9505a) Works everywhere in Baja. You can take that with you for safety etc. Not a ton of minutes in my plan but certainly enough to keep you in contact with folks.

I am in La Cresta / Murrieta area.
