Camping Near Loreto

Heading down towards Loreto in a week for some kayak fishing. Don't have 4 wheel drive and concerned about roads to the beaches. Anyone have suggestions or tips for camping spots on the beach that I will be able to access? I like Juncalito and surrounding areas. Any info is appreciated.

Playa Ligui... just stay off the sand beach at the end of the road. Who knows what it looks like after the hurricane? The monument to the washed away mission ruins of San Juan Bautista de Ligui/Malibat is passed midway between Hwy. 1 and the beach.

In July, 2012:

Note, to cross sand, in 2WD, deflate tires by 50%... more if stuck... keep momentum up until you are on solid ground. Bring tire pump to fill up after.

Next Baja vehicle: 4WD!

Here is my article on Ligui from Baja Bound: http://www.bajabound.com/bajaadventures/bajatravel/vanished_...:light:

Also consider San Brunito (San Bruno) north of Loreto. Not to be confused with the town of the same name north of Mulege. Head out to the beach at the military checkpoint. Could do lots of kayak fishing just off shore there. Some sweet camp spots. Probably nobody but you and an occasional panguero. Spent many weeks there with our kids in the old days.

Do you have photos of the Kino mission/ fort ruins at San Bruno? These are the oldest Spanish ruins in California... from 1683-1685.

I only have this image from Ed Vernon...

Another view/vote of Playa Ligui. Easy access, easy on the eyes.

Sad to say that its gone !! as in a HUGE resort was being built there....I'd try jauncalito just north of P.E. and also Rattlesnake beach in the same area !!! John (Ligui) here on BN has a sweet spot there that he sometimes let folks stay there..You might try to U2U him...and the kayaking in front of his place cant be beat !!...K & the Famous Tasha !!

Wrong Cap.
This is not the beach the new resort is on.
It.s south of there and still the same.
