Baja 1000 Pre-run Report

Dan McMillin
Loreto, Mexico ·

-North Loreto to Loreto is tight and technical with water and rocks. Turns into a fun wash into the Dump and out of it.

-Wash to San Javier Rd is very fun, Lots of water but all rockbed.

-San Javier road is very good. Paved with some damage.

-San Javier mission to Hwy 22 is fast.

-Race mile 1085 to 1150, whoops whoops whoops.

-Last 100 miles to La Paz was freshly marked, and was different from what our GPS read. SCORE has released so many versions of the GPS file, it's frustrating. Make sure you have the "latest" version but it's probably gonna change when you're down here, like it did on us. Marking is good but inconsistent. Too much relying on the GPS and not physical markers. SCORE should place a physical marker so you can see one to the other, in line of sight. No where in the rules does it say you need a working GPS. Just gotta pay attention.
