Woo Hoo WAHOO!!! Fish of the Year

Every year, somebody catches a fish that wows us. On Sunday, our guest Kevin who was here with the group from Fish & Hunt Baja became a legend!

He caught the biggest wahoo we have seen here and miraburrously, it was on mono filiment line with a Salas 6X blue and white lure! The boys had been seeing large wahoo swimming around the boat the last couple days and really wanted to land one...and he did!

Of course everyone wanted a photo with the monster they figured was about 70lbs and nearly 6' long!

The group flew in and fished 3 days with us..it was their first visit to Asuncion but certainly not their last as they were stoked with all the different species of fish they caught...wahoo, big yellowtail, grouper, sierra, bonita, calico, sheephead, whitefish & dorado.

Many thanks to Tomas from Loncheria Mari for his invaluable burroistance with transport and feeding the boys...love his new sign at the restaurant!

the bar is open...have a cold one getting off the plane

they couldnt get half their fish onto the planes and were weighing it at the airstrip!

Kekos Restaurant did a bang up job on lobster dinners and cooking their catch.

we had a great time with this group and lucked out with great weather and fishing!

Is that a Penn 500 Jig Master sticking out of the pickup in the photo with the Hoo on the tail gate? Don't tell me it was caught on that?

Glad to see that your SST is still warm enough for wahoo. The water temp was down to around 73 yesterday outside Mag Bay.

It's been hit and miss, but the dorado and yellowtail have been dependable.
