Fuel price differential affecting border waits?
Now that we are largely past the holidays, it will be interesting to watch the borders and see how much they are being affected by Mexicans crossing
into the US to take advantage of the vastly cheaper fuel.
There must be a goodly number that has already started to cross to do this. If you know any frequent crossers (like more than 1-2x/week), ask them if
they see an increase in wait times during the next couple weeks.
Or, I guess we could check the CBP websites and see whether the wait is increasing.
Simple economics would dictate that it will increase the wait times. Mexicans are frugal people who will take advantage of this disparity.

...isn't 'frugal' more for people who have money to start with?

It was reported recently from a Pemex station operator, that the add on taxes for each liter could be as much as 70% of the cost at the pump.

Yes, current gas prices in Northern San Diego & Imperial County Coscto locations (ie. San Marcos, Poway & El Centro) are among some of the
most cheapest gas prices in California ($2.25 - $2.29).
It's even cheaper if you use a Costco/American Express True Earnings Business Card, in order to take advantage of the 4% gasoline rebate.
