Lots of a Rain in Mulege today..how about you?
Started yesterday with a couple periods of rain. This morning before dawn a good thunderstorm and heavy rain came through. Let up and sun came out for
a little bit. Power went off late morning then while we were having lunch another very big cell came through, lots of heavy rain and wind with thunder
and lightning and hail! Was kind of fun until we realized that it was A Lot of Water in a very short period of time. So digging ditches and sweeping
muddy water was our afternoon. Someone said they could not get to Santa Rosalia because some arroyos were flowing. Sure that is over by now, sun came
out with a beautiful sunset. Power came on for a little bit while preparing dinner but is off again. So any news of this system hitting north or south
or how much actually fell here? We were going to Loreto today to explore Aqua Verde and Mision San Javier but decided to wait until tomorrow to head
south because of unsettled weather. Any reports from points south or north would be great.

Hail in Mulege? That`s awesome! Need some of that in San Diego where I`m watching the annual grasses and weeds dry up every day.

coming down 5 from San Felipe to chapala tomorrow and do not need a mud hole through the 20 some add miles of dirt road...
could re route over to mex 1 but would like to not have to do that...
have not seen news for a couple of days so didn't know there was any weather happening on Baja..

It thundered and poured all day here in San Nicolas!
Plus the off and on showers and downpours of the 2 days before.
We are saturated.
It is beautiful!

Beautiful here this morning, power on, water on, everything is clean and shiny and the birds are singing. And yes we are saturated but the sun is out
and the lado will dry.

After watching the rain clouds the last few days over the mtns it finally rained. A few short period downpours but it was a good rain. Sure seemed
like more rain than your numbers, Mono. This morning is fresh and beautiful! The ocean is a little stormy but south swell peaks have some good shape.

Things got wet and muddy fast! The floor got wet, needed mopping anyway...
Took these as it was receding; was kinda busy as it came up!
Neighbors got some good pics of all the water coming down the street, may get them posted up later.

Starting today would probably be a golden opportunity to start a grass roots neighbor-to-neighbor, friend-to-friend word-of -mouth movement to dump
out all the little containers of standing water in back yards, behind sheds etc., especially old tires.... Git'er done now, and try to minimize a
second round of Dengue. A good concerted community effort may prove advantageous.
I don't have a BUCKET LIST, but I do have a F***- IT LIST a mile long!

Edit by AKgringo......At the place I was staying near La Paz, I went behind the building to relight the water heater. There was a minor but steady
leak that had formed a pool that was swarming with mosquito larva. This was during the Dengue outbreak in October.
This really deserves a thread of it's own to get the word out!

We had a chubasco in Mulege, (lots of water in short time) all is back to normal, besides 5 pick ups, that ended in the river because of the "lodo".

Environment predicates vocabulary
Lodo is the first new word I learned immediately following Hurricane John some years ago.
Then came various (re-)construction terms like:
yesso (drywall - not a good idea in Mulege)
martillo (big-a@@ hammer to knock down yesso)
avenico (ceiling fans - why th' heck are they covered in lodo?)
mangera de pression (pressure washer - the better to spray-wash your avenicos, my dear)
and
adios mi nuevos zapatitos (byebye little new clean shoes)

Yes, if there is lodo on the avenico and the yesso that was not underwater is down in the stairwell you just have to know.....for some weird reason
your post made me laugh..guess you just would have to have been there !...
