New F150 vs. Toyota fullsize
Toyota full size is called a Tundra (second generation Tundra).
Many Nomads have them, just like many have F-150s.
I would like to hear from both sides, but just for seeing why one truck is appealing to its owner. I don't want anything bigger than a mid-size truck,
personally. The Raptor is on the F-150, and that one is very appealing (once the weak spindles are swapped out).

Just read the Consumer Reports Annual Auto Issue.
They've always been a big Toyota proponent but not any longer....Their take for this year.....
"What's not to like? Well, its trucks are somewhat crude and out-classed by just about everything from Detroit, and there's nothing in its lineup that
screams, "Let's go for a drive!"
First time I can remember Consumer Reports not recommending Toyotas over just about any other vehicle, especially their trucks.....probably they got
taken over by the nutty liberals....

Toyota reliability is hard to judge in an article. someone posted a link to a $850 tail light replacement PARTS ONLY on the new ford!!!!
truthfully, it probably is best judged by the butt-dyno when you test drive both of them.

They only sell them in Mexico. Got it in Colima back in Nov. I got a Snugtop shell in Mesa Az. It gets amazing mpgs. Its bigger than a Tacoma and
smaller than a Tundra. You can put a 4 ft wide piece of plywood between the wheel wells.
I could go on and on .
Go drive one.

F150 and Chevy/GMC 1500 are both much better choices than the Tundra. Test drive each and look around at farmers and contractors and see what lasts
when they are really used. Unfortunately, the new truck smell fades fast in all of them.

I like the 150 with the 3.5 ecoboost. Awesome performance and gas mileage. Pulls a big trailer (12000 lbs, but get's bad mileage), and handles like
a luxury car when not pulling. Not sure about the Toyota.

My Main rides are a Porsche, BMW and a Tundra. Wife drives the BMW most of the time and of course I need 400 HP to get to work in the Porsche. So what
do we use for weekend trips? Can't beat the Tundra. I LOVE that truck and hey it also works great in Mexico

Ford guy here...Started with a 86' Bronco then outgrew that and went to a F-350 4x4 crew cab. That was a great truck. Lots of room and just accept the
10mpg. Then went to a 97' F250 4x4 extra cab. Again, great reliable trucks, never let me down. Now I drive a 2011 F-150 4x4 crew cab. Now this truck
drives like a car compared to the 3/4 ton trucks. Very comfortable for long trips and I have to have my satellite radio on all the time....just
sayin'....Plus...it's an American company.
Happy Trails....

Pi*sed off Toyota
From the top of the line Lexus (wonder why they don't want to use the Toyota name?) to the bottom of the line AYgo (sold in Europe) this ad is
representative of how Toyota feels about the current publicity:

I thought buying a truck that wasn't going to break down each trip was important for Baja... but when I found out my truck was built in Baja, and is
the best one of the three Tacomas I have had, I kind of thought that was just another way to help Baja a little. The Toyota factory where my truck was
built is on Hwy. 2 between Tijuana and Tecate... in Baja California, Mexico!

They are all global companies now and there is a good chance
that, depending on the model, there is more US manufactured content in a Toyota or Honda, than there is in that "Merican" Ford or Chevy. I know my
American Ford truck was built in Canada, and my wife's Jap import Honda CRV, was built in the US.

Yes, and my F-250 was built in Mexico. 2003, ~150,000 miles, no problems.
But, Ford has 80,000 US employees and I would guess 100s of thousands American shareholders. Buying a Ford is good for all those people.

My 2015 Silverado was built in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Tundras were more expensive and had less payload capacity. Ford seemed about as good as the
Chevy.

Wow, not only Consumer Reports but just finished the Truck review in Car and Driver.
First place was the new F150 with a 9 rating. Same rating, 9, for the Silverado/GMC but they preferred the power to weight of the new Ford. The Dodge
Ram was a distant third with an 8 rating and a lot off negative comments. Finally the Toyotas were in 4th with a 7 rating. Comments included "Cheasy"
and not just one generation behind but a generation and a half at least. Handling, performance, comfort and space were all negative comments in the
review. I have never seen Toyotas score so poorly in any reviews.
BTW, I've always kept my wife and kids in Avalon's and Camry's because they are plug and play people who just expect to get in and drive. We'll be
looking at new cars soon for my wife and I'm really interested in the top ranked AWD Subaru. One of my buddies just bought the Outback version and
it's incredible. I think my wife is more of a traditional sedan gal so I'll be looking at those closely. It looks like Toyota and Honda have
definitely slipped in the global auto/truck markets. Not the heavy favorites they previously were.

Subarus are great... wish they made 4WD still instead of AWD. The horizontal motor is amazing, designed from an airplane engine. I owned three
Subarus, all with over 100,000 miles on them, mostly on Baja trips (1977-1993).
