Tourist Cards in Mexicali

What is involved in getting a tourist card in Mexicali?? Is it as easy as SY??

Crossing there in a couple of weeks and going down the 5 for the first time...
SO EXCITED!

Easy at East Crossing

Very easy at East Crossing.
Go through the "declare no declare lanes" drive past inspection bays and turn right and drive back toward main building. Park and walk into large building. Tell anyone that you are looking for immigration office. It is just inside main entrance to building and to the right.
Bank close houses on sign said 6 am to 10 PM but I would suspect during normal business house best.
Daughter and son in law just got FMM there this afternoon.

i've got the free 7 day fmm at the old West Calexico, downtown Mexicali crossing, as opposed
to the mentioned newer east crossing, which is
7 mi east of Mexicali.
The Imm office is directly to the
left 150 ft. or so, after you enter Mex, limited parking
available in front of office. I believe the office is 24/7, the
bank teller less, read of someone who had to walk 6 blks.
into Mexicali to a bank, also a report they will issue the fmm
and pay the $25 in San Felipe at the bank

What do you mean as to San Felipe and a "go"... ??

If you mean you are "going" there, sure!!!! Have a blast and report back as to the crossing and the permits...seems like times are changing.

Mexicali East

Is pretty easy although we got crossed up with the parking lot.

Tomas - San Felipe in a couple of weeks - would that be around Easter, or as it's now Spring Break? could be busy and fun.

I've got a little sketch here somewhere about east crossing I can post later today assuming I can find it. I agree that it is less of a challenge than the old west crossing. Plus, once out of the visa place the route to San Felipe is really well-marked getting you through Mexicali and heading south.

The Pole Line Road Group led by Ken Cooke will be crossing into Mexico at the downtown (original) Mexicali border at 8:30 on a Saturday morning. If anything is odd I will report back. We frequently cross here going to Shell Island, never a problem. I have not stopped at the INM office there, always got the tourist cards at Tijuana.

east crossing procedure 2 months ago

Follow the signs on the US side to the crossing. It's well-marked. As you enter Baja, stay in the no-declare lanes, but stay as right as practical. You'll pass under the big white roof, and see the drawing for the rest. The bank where you pay is the little yellow push pin, you can hardly see it clearly, but it says bank on the front!

Ahh, thank you John M!
Screenshot and save!

Planning to blaze through SF And P citos and get down to gonzaga for a night... Fully aware of the possible semana Santa nightmare I'm heading into the wed. before easter..Just looking to stop and flop in the camper for a night and then head to San Ignacio Lagoon the next AM..

Are there a few hotels in Gonzaga? Or Alfosinas the only game?
Hotel would be preferable for night one.. Leaving the camper load intact is desirable...

Alfies is best for a pillow. $$$ as well.

Also, just when you are screaming down the road south of SF the dips will launch you back into reality. They space them far enuf apart that you are never sure if the are over. Kinda like land mines!

search turned up this:

Phone 011-52 (664) 648-1951.
Fax 011-52 (664) 626-2626.
Mailing address: Post Office Box 2229, Chula Vista, California, U.S.A. 91912.
Located near the end of the sand spit, at the north end of the dirt runway, east side.
On the beach.
16 rooms / restaurant / bar / margarita - sunset deck.
Joaquin Card##as (Alphonsina's son) and his bride Susana (and their young son Joaquin Junior!) have taken over for Alphonsina at the resort, and provide excellent service for guests and travelers who stop by. Good people!
The best way to be sure a room is available when you arrive is to fax or write Joaquin or Alphonsina 30 days in advance. The fax number is 011-52 (66) 26-1645. Rooms sleep 4 people in two big beds. Discounted rates for one person in a room.

When you see a sign that says VADO slow down. These are not dips like you see in the states. More like canyons. They will have huge gouge marks in the pavement from unsuspecting RV,ers

Welcome to Nomad! Since you are asking in a thread about Mexicali border tourist cards, you might get more answers if you start a new thread with the question in the subject title... I was at Alfonsina's for dinner 5 weeks ago and asked about room rates, but not about pets.
