Security at Gonzaga

Just thinking of a trip in the future and we would like to drag our smaller travel trailer to Gonzaga for a week or so and then go over to Asuncion on the other side. We would prefer to leave the TT in Gonzaga and motel it from there to Asuncion and back. Then stay in Gonzaga for a few more days and back home.

Anyone have a feeling about leaving the TT parked at say Papa's for a week or so? It does have good door locks and nothing loose outside.

Cliffy, he was serious... at Papa Fernandez' camp, there is a rope across the road that goes over the hill to the gulf side of Punta Willard... That is Papa's camping beach. Since all who try and go that way must pass in front of the restaurant and entire camp, and take down the rope, that is about as secure as it gets at Gonzaga Bay.

There are many from San Felipe that has a trailer down there.....never a problem. Also......there is a staff that lives on the premises. Rope is down today......as I am looking. Many folks down here right now.....so be very careful on the road this week folks.

Old people are like the old cars, made of some tough stuff. May show a little rust, but good as gold on the inside.

the "new" mexico! there's a gate at the far west end of the road coming in that gets locked every night. there's now a locked gate to the launch ramp requiring even residents to have unlocked to get in :( and the rope into the camp at the restaurant.
it is what it is.

Oh come on now.:-) I was just asking about the current thinking there, now
I was there probably long before many of you (early 70s and eating dinner with Papa and family. I even came in from the dry lake east (Challapa ?) (at night) of there and I love the place just haven't been there in years. Have flown in there and landed at Papa's when he had a runway. Landed at Alfies also. Have flown over it many times going to BOLA and landing at the old runway in town. It's just been a while. :-) :-)
I'm planning later this year and just don't want to drag the TT over the dirt road and all the way to Asuncion. Did 1300 miles in Baja last summer though with the TT in tow.

Hey Cliffy;
Camped many times at Papa's with the wife and always found someone onsite to raise and lower the 'rope' also usually people around in the homes immediately surrounding Papa's. Left our kayak stowed up against the wall by the boat ramp with gear attached and slept soundly over the rise out of sight in our camp with all safely there the next morning.
Anything can happen anytime and anywhere, won't say it's fool proof but it's been a happy place for me and the wife and if your around there the first of June you should see us smiling back at you.

P.S. Next to the Pemex station, living in a small trailer, is a guy named Gabby and his wife. He's a welder by trade all though a handyman all the time. Life's tough sometimes and he enjoys any left over veggies or other items not worthy hauling back to the states. He is the man to see if you need someone to help you out with vehicle issues also. Not a mechanic but will stay until you don't need him. He also let us park our broken down camp van next to his trailer for 3 months until we could get back with a part (he installed) and got it back running. Nothing was bothered with of all the gear we had stored in there ($$$). He asked for nothing but we did give him about $20 a month for the kindness he showed in letting us leave or vehicle with someone we had absolutely no ties to until then...Gabby is the first man I will see anytime I go to Gonzaga now and hug both he and his wife as I did when we left them.

I would go with Alphonsina's. I have never had a problem there, and they do have a gate guard now.

Was it in response to David's post? Since when stating the obvious is called negative, I wonder.
