OK...a PRATICAL visa question
heres the deal...
long time Gonzaga traveler.
thru 'discover baja",I have my UNSTAMPED visa.
plannin on going down for a month or so to Gonzaga.
mexicalli crossing east/west...whatever is better for the below mentioned !
will be towing my 18 ' boat
also 2 dogs,1 old,15 yrs,1 puppy,8 weeks
In order to get my stamp...
parking for the truck n boat ?
how long will it take for "the stamp" ?
dont wanna leave the dogs too long in the truck with the heat n all !
3 rd question.
can ya get a stamp in san felipi ? (its usually a lot cooler there than mexicalli
is the damn stamp REALLY that important ? (I think I know the answer on this one )

Sounds like your concerns are centered around the boat in tow and the dogs. One solution is to take a quick trip solo to the closest crossing before
you leave on the month long trip and get the visa squared away.
Just a thought.

Mexicali, specially since there was a post here that they were turning people back 95 miles south of Mexicali for not having it!

Not towing a boat, I always cross at the Old Downtown Calexico
Mexicali crossing, the Mex Imm office is 150 ft to the left
after you pass the red green lite as you enter Mex. Parking
in front of office for maybe 5 vehicles, obviously not the
perferred way with a boat, can it be done, probably. With form
filled out, takes 3 min. The east crossing 7 mi east of
would have a little more space. fmm not technically valid
without date entry stamp. San Felipe Imm stopped issueing
tourist cards 8 yrs back, so I'm going to say they wouldn't
stamp a prepaid fmm

Take a drive to Tecate. Park for $5 on Us side. Walk one block, get stamp, walk back across the street to US pedestrian crossing. I've never had
more than a five minute wait walking across.
If you want to walk an extra block you can go to Tacos Los Pancho's , have a few and then walk 1 block back to the border.

If you are in PB, drive to san ysidro, park, get stamped, walk back.
be sure to get stamped - it would be awful to get turned back!

... and next time get visa blank also at the border. There is no need to buy it from Discover Baja when border agents are giving it for free.

I just got one about a week ago at the Mexicali East crossing when going south. The west crossing is horrible for parking even without a boat! The
east crossing is a little funky because there are lots of areas with room, but they are not easily accessible (curbs and trucks intentionally parked
to block access). This could change from visit to visit....
There was a recent post on this....try a search.
Good luck!
