Depends on what you need. Best anchorage is Puerto Balandra on the North East side. Sheltered from almost all directions. Bahia Salinas off the old
salt mine is on the south west side. Shallow and lots of sand beach. Farther to the south west just north of Punta Baja is a sandy-gravelly beach just
west of some rock outcroppings that has good holding ground. Off the north east side are some sheltered coves with good snorkling possibilies. Its all
great. Enjoy.

Puerto Balandra . . .
American by birth, Mexican by choice.

My favorite anchorage on Isla Carmen is Bahia Cobre (Copper Bay) on the east side of the island just north of Punta Perico - about five miles south of
Punta Lobos. It is smaller and less popular than Balandra with interesting and colorful rock formations, and offers good protection from diurnal
morning offshore winds that often blow off the peninsula in the summer months.

Starbaja,
If they follow your directions, let's hope they have a fast boat.
In case they're going by canoe, they're going to be there a while.

So, JZ, you are thinking about launching in SC and then boating down to Loreto? Or past there? Cuando?

Yeah, taking the boat from SC over to Santa Rosalia, down to Conception, and then on to Loreto.

You should start another post about the boat fuel situation in SR and at PE. It has been on-again, off-again, at times.

I'm a little surprised that no one has mentioned Marquer Bay on the South-West part of Carmen. Beautiful bay with large sand beach, good snorkeling
at either end and clamming in the pure white sand bottom. It's not the best protected, but good overnight in settled summer weather.
Marquer Bay
Living Large in Loreto. Off-grid and happy.

About 4 to 5 miles to the lighthouse on the south east end.

JZ.....Looks like El Refugio on the north end of the island. In the dunes south of the beach is a good place to spot mountain sheep.
