Tecate - Ensenada (Hwy3) realignment

A new stretch of the road Tecate - El Sauzal came into operation Saturday June 13 SCT Center Director Alfonso Padres Baja California Pesqueira said.

The work done by the Secretariat of Communications and Transport were held to replace a line 12 kilometers long, with the new 3.8 kilometer route, which will be a saving in distance of 8.2 km and consequently time.

With this new line a safer trip, as will avoid passing through an area of ​​curves and hills. The old section of this road will be used only for local traffic.

The new road has is 12 meters wide, culverts and a bridge 80 meters long with two lanes and berms.

The director of the Center SCT noted that this work is within the modernization program Federal Highway, which aims to improve safety and reduce travel times.

He explained that people who travel from Tecate to Ensenada, will join the new road at the village Rancho Viejo at kilometer 31.

In the case of users that circulate from Ensenada to Tecate, they will be incorporated at the beginning of the hill that is located out of the town of El Testerazo at kilometer 45.

During the incorporation process you will have personnel directing traffic and signaling on both points, to avoid any confusion, so ask the citizens who use this road, follow the recommendations of the installed signs such as respect speed limit in the construction area.

It notes that the opening will allow to continue work on incorporating the old with the new road in the area of ​​El Testerazo at kilometer 45.

I just drove the new section today. It was good. There were no apparent delays because of ongoing work (Sunday). For those who remember the drive, the shortcut deletes the section on the flat mountaintop.
