Mexican Port of Entry construction at Otay?

Anyone know what all the new construction at the existing Mexican POE at Otay is for?

Why are they spending millions to improve that facility with huge structures and entry lanes at the same time that they are buiding the new Otay East POE?

After you exit that facility you still have to drive on the same surface streets.

Otay East will be a toll crossing (in both directions).

Looks like that will be closer to the Corredor 2000/Hwy. 2-D junction for an easy jump south to Rosarito/Ensenada and beyond!

That's a good article with a nice map

I guess that means us SENTRI guys will only have a one minute wait vs. a three or four minute at the old Otay

Er... more like "from" Rosarito/Ensenada and beyond. Southbound traffic isn't a problem, I think.
