Portable generator service in Sandy Eggo

My Yamaha 3000 generator quit putting out AC power. I've been told it is now a dead man anchor, but in the interest of spending money and helping the economy does anyone have a good generator repair/rebuilder in SD?

it starts right up and purrs but no output.

Does the 12v DC output receptacle have power? If yes, then I wonder if there is a problem with the AC circuit breaker?

Maybe this will help:

Have the same problem and I'm thinking "worn brushes"?

Is it an inverter generator?

Off grid, 12-190 watt evergreen solar panels on solar trackers, 2-3648 stacked Outback inverters, 610ah LiFePo4 48v battery bank, FM 60 and MX60 Outback charge controllers, X-240 Outback transformer for 240v from inverters, 6500 watt Kubota diesel generator.

Inverter generators have a rotor and stator that generates the power that the inverter needs to make 120v power. I would call around and take it to an authorized repair place. They'll probably have the test equipment necessary to test it and replace the necessary parts. Otherwise it is just a hunt and peck type operation which can get expensive really fast.

Dang Woody. I do not like the "only place that will touch it" part.....

A lot of 'brainiacs" over there on BD. Especially those kooks up in the NW :)

Just do not know where it would be best to post it.

Maybe the Marine Electronics Board......yea...thats where those guys like to hang out..

I hate not being able to fix something myself and then having to run around in the blind just trying to find someone to merely look at it.....not yet honestly and properly repair it....

Good luck with your journey...

I have a Yamaha 6300 isde that has the same issue. I searched online and found a guy who took it into a yamaha service center and they wanted to replace the board for about $800. Another guy with same issue found the board has a soldered in fuse that burned up. He soldered in a new one and was back in business for under $4.
I plan on opening mine up and looking for that board fuse.

A-OK,
That's where I was trying to point Woody.
Is yours model # EF6300iSDE ? If not, any other 6300's probably share similar electronics. If you didn't see my link above, it might help you to track down the problem.
http://www.gen-tech.net/fullpanel/uploads/files/theory--diag...

Section 3-72 (page #148 of the PDF file). Looks like two breakers identified as #5, and one fuse #20 on the schematic.

Hope you find the $4 fix!

Yes that's my gennie. These newer Yamaha inverter gens are pretty similar. The AC breaker on our units are on the front panel and the 10amp fuse is inside the cover. Sounds like Woody found that too. From what I'm told the suspect soldered fuse is inside the unit on the control board. I'll let you know what I find as soon as I get some time to work on it. Keep us updated Woody.

over $3000 to replace the controller, stator and rotor. $700 of it is labor. they got Yamaha on the phone and that guy said if those 3 parts were not replaced together he couldn't promise it would work.

looks like a new deadman in BdeLA!
