Hwy 5 & Baja 1000
We are heading down to Asuncion for 10 days on Nov.13th we live in Arizona so we usually go down through San Felipe and Gonzaga I know that the Baja
1000 is the week after we are going through there. was thinking there will be a lot of people pre running should I go around through Ensenada instead
or will I be OK to go that way on the 13th

23 dirt miles... and much of that is a construction zone... High speed on those curves, if that is the only concern, may not be happening... You may
not see one pre-runner at all. They don't want a head on any more than you.
This is what we had to deal with on that section 3 months ago...
... I would prefer a pre-runner!

I've driven the road lots of times 3 times this year just wondering about pre runners and safety don't want to get run off the road or my windshield
busted going that way saves me quite a bit of time think I'll take my chances

just hold your ground. i always say if some jack-hole is going to hit me head-on i sure as hell won't swerve off the road to miss him, just so he can
continue without so much as slowing down to see if we're okay....

Just to be clear, the race is a counter clockwise one this year, meaning that you'll be meeting pre runners head on. Hug the right side on all
corners (pavement too) and you should be fine

Hwy 5 is a speed zone (meaning non racing section and a strict speed limit). Talked to Coco yesterday and he said almost no pre-runners so far.

Once the course leaves highway 1 at Chapala, the course is race speed until 10 miles north of Coco's. The speed zone extends from there to about 15
miles north of Puertecitos.

So, the speed zone is only on the PAVED section of Hwy. 5 (on race day).

The orange dots on the map are the beginning of speed zones, the green dots are the end of the speed zones.

If this is the case they will have to close the road to traffic and construction. Oh the poor road....It was just getting passable. for those
