Backpacking stove propane/butane gas canisters
Is there a store in La Paz or Loreto that sells them? Thanks.

Are you talking about the old Bluet type canisters that get pierced by the burner apparatus?

There are a dozen or more types of canister/cartridges. I won't have the answer about BCS. If you need an accurate answer from anyone else, you must
be very specific about which canister.
This is only a partial list:

If you are a backpacker or shop at REI, you will know what I am looking for.

They (propane) can be found here in Loreto.. Ferra-Mar marine store or around the corner at the hardware store...

Sometimes they have them at Walmart, some Walmarts, not all.
$89mxn
The canisters are few and far betwen in MX
Little green Coleman propane canisters are eaiser to get.
Yoe need one of these.

They work better with a Sno Peak Giga Power than some other stoves.
Read the comments section about which stoves work well.

Rather than be specific, THIS is your response?
Good luck finding it............

Thank you joerover! Didn't realize what I thought was a simple question would conjure such disdain and lead me unfortunately to respond in kind.
While I frequent Baja, I think I will retreat once again from this forum as I did years ago.
And I guess I will be bringing the old MSR multi fuel stove I have owned since time immemorial and used in Baja multiple times over decades, if I can
figure out how to air it out sufficiently to get it through TSA inspection. Adios...

Mexico has a their own flavor of gas cartridge stove, and own type of gas canister. If you are hikeing it is to big. If it is for your hotel room, or
the beach it will work.

Thank you joerover for info. about the propane adaptor. I didn't know one existed.
JCK-Sometimes it is good to be forthright, but not in this case. Instead of slinking back into the shadows, how about delivering a nice trip report.

Read the fine print. It works with some stoves, and leaks with others. Why? The threads that connect the stove to the canister are not the same
length on all stoves.

Short answer to your question - yes, available.
Long answer:
I think somebody already asked, but let me repeat: What exactly are you looking for?
There exist small stoves with:
1) 1 lb propane cylinders, or 2) small blue butane cylinders, or 3) MSR/Optimus type canister of propane-isobutane mix.
Assuming #3:
They are available in Loreto in a few camping stores. Don't remember the name of one "Deportivo" store in Loreto where I saw them - long time ago I
have modified - permanently and irreversibly - my backpacking stove to accept green propane cylinders and am happy as a clam. Much cheaper than MSR
canisters and available in hardware stores most anywhere.
Walmart was mentioned - I'm not sure there is a Walmart in Loreto. Though there is a pretty big store Bodega Aurrera. Haven't been there.
Btw, slash "/" in human-readable texts more often is used as a substitute for "OR", rather than "AND". Ex, "propane/butane" = propane OR butane. I
don't think your stove is so multifuel that can accept a variety of LPG products.
PS:
Keep in mind that this forum is not a major hub of backpackers or people who shop at REI. Nomads name is a misnomer, forum members don't migrate
extensively like nomadic tribes of the past. They just live here. In big (or small) houses, trailers, shacks, or under a rock - whatever suits their
needs, ambition and financial level.
Have fun!
