Project Fi coverage in BCS


I recently replaced my T-Mobile LG G3 phone with a Google Nexus 6P, which uses the "Project Fi" network. Similarly to T-Mobile, it advertises cellular calls for 20 cents per minute in 120 different countries. I'm curious to know if there are any other Project Fi users who have brought their phones to BCS, and in particular to the Todos Santos area. With T-Mobile I had excellent reception in Las Tunas and Todos Santos proper, spotty reception in Pescadero, and no coverage at all in El Triunfo or south of Pescadero.

Been travelling top to bottom and have been using Fi whenever free wifi wasnt available, but of course cell coverage is fairly hit and miss outside of the major centres eg bay of Los Angeles no coverage. Bahia Frailes we had internet on the beach which surprised some of the snowbirds.

"Internet on the Beach" strikes me as a good name for a c-cktail. But I digress... :coolup:

Thanks for the report. Given that Project Fi uses the same existing Mexican cell phone infrastructure used by T-Mobile, I guess it would be unrealistic to see an improvement. Then again, being off the grid - if only part of the time - isn't a bad thing.

Just to close the loop here, I was very happy with my Project Fi coverage during our most recent trip. Not only did I have excellent coverage in El Pescadero and Todos Santos, but my data connection was faster than the WiFi provided at our casita. Granted, I don't stream video or music, and only use data for social media and email, but I had more than enough bandwidth. Truth be told, it tickled me to be able to make my phone into a hotspot when there was no WiFi so that my wife could have connectivity on her iPhone.
