Dish Network in San Felipe?
I am tired of DirecTV. I just found out that they are raising the rates in Jan.
Honestly, I am almost ready to go to SlingTV, but I want my local channels while I'm in San Felipe.
Do any of you San Felipe folks have Dish Network that are located in Phoenix and have a casa in San Felipe?
If so, can you get the spot beam in SF for the locals??

1) You need to pay for dish at a location that has wide angle beam
Such as Denver, San Diego etc. Then forget about sling and just put a Hopper in SF. Go ask the Dish guy where the wide angle beams are for your
payment. No spot beams will work in SF.
2) With fast internet then Sling could work?
So hopper with sling where ever (Spot or wide) and a receiver in SF will make it work with lots of delays that I find unacceptable.
Anyway, once you have an address in the US the dish guy has all the stuff and will install for you. Get a Hopper. Joeys are available as well for more
tuners and more TVs. These days all Hoppers come with Sling in case you want to give it a try.

Services such as Directv all raise rates on you every year. You now have to call each one to get the latest "promo" deal to keep your rates down.
They are banking on you will not care to or notice.
I just finished making my yearly calls for myself and my father ( he can't stand talking to the CSRs and really doesn't know how to cut thru the BS).
I have saved use both over a $1000 for the year.: )
Always ask for "retention", be nice and suggest that you will leave and go to another service unless the price comes down. This especially works well
with Directv. If you have "big balls" and can live without TV for a week or two you can actually cancel and they will usually call you back in a
couple of days offering a screaming deal to get you back. YMMV. I usually just take my $400-$600 in credits and Run : )

yea yea yea, been there done that with retention group, but tired of it. I think I will flip and flop between Dish and Direct every 2 years, just to
pee them off.

Check if the channels you want are available in the same package. Dish does not offer FS1 & FS2 in the same package except the most expensive
packages. Dish also does the same thing with the News & Finance channels. Direct is better at putting together packages thus can be cheaper.

You may also want to check with your neighbors there is SF and see what type dish set up they are using. Here in BoLA we are just far enough out of
the sat footprint that we need to use 2 dishes to receive the signal, 1 dish aimed at the 110 sat and 1 aimed at the 119 then a sw21 switch connects
the 2 dishes. The dish500 dish is just a little too small so we don't get all the available channels unless we use the 2 dishes.

I've been told that receiving the 110 is almost impossible without a 9' dish. I've got the 119 sat on a 50" dish, no problem. I have an extra 48"
dish, and the DishProLNB, and the multi dish switch box, just didn't bother trying it yet.
I'm way south of you, ( East Cape), not sure how much a difference that would be, as it sounds like you are still using a stock size dish for both
sats????
Was hoping to get the NFL playoffs this year, all the networks are on the 110 sat.
Any insight would be appreciated, Thanx.

Hopper receiver comes with the larger multi-head dish, The dish500 has not been used for years. As I said the local SF dish dealer has all the
necessary stuff in stock.

I don't have any experience with sat reception that far south but I have a 1.8 meter (6') dish and mount in my yard in Bola that you can have to try
and receive the 110 sat with. Free to a good home.

the networks are on sat. 119 in the East Cape. Easy deal to connect 2nd sat. 129. Several guys in the EC can set up.
