Feb 14/16: GN to SQ
Easy travelling north again after a great morning walk at Laguna Ojo de Liebre (Shari you must jhave been out on a boat at the crack of dawn). No
inspections at the two check points today. Yup...just waved through. The potholes are killers, though, all the way from south of Catavina to El
Rosario. Wonderful Valentine's Day supper and service at Jardine's Restaurant at the end of the day.
If you can, drive down and enjoy the gifts that the desert gives when it recieves water - the landscape is the greenest and blossom-iest that I have
ever seen. Big surf cracking the Pacific shore this afternoon, too!

Hi Windgrrl.
Connie and I are elementary school teachers in Oakland. We both speak spanish. It's our first trip down to Baja. General questions (after reading
the posts for a couple hours).
1. Where to go to see the whales this week, any particular guides to boat with? What are customary fees? Are the lagoons at Guerro Negro the same as
Ojo (or should we drive around the lagoon to launch).
2. Camping suggestions for three nights? (we just know about Guerro Negro Palapas)
3. Suggestions for nature walks/bird viewing at the lagoons and on the long drive down from Ensenada.

just go to Ojo and you can camp right there as well. spend an afternoon out at Laguna Manuela for an exploration on the way home.

Her photos are amazing! This is an incredible year for whale-watching!
If you go to Ojo de Liebre you will get all the info you need - and if you need a hotel that is inexpensive and wonderful - go to TerraSal which is
the very first hotel on the right as you enter guerrero negro. tons of info at the front desk on packages available. Rooms at $30 +
Mario's huge palapa which is right after you pass the huge flag that separates Baja fromBaja Sur offers tours as well as Malarrimo. They are located
further down the street as you enter town of g negro. Their little store has some neat objects in it.

Hola!
I must leave the answers to your questions to those better informed and experienced than I. We are still in discovery mode, but I recommend Campo
Rene, near Punta Abreojos for bird watching.
There was a lot of whale action, especially spy-hopping, in the bay at Scammon's lagoon yesterday and I hope you enjoy your trip to the area.
