Fish ID?

A friend was fishing for cow tuna in Pto Vallarta and this fish came up to the boat lights at night. They grabbed it with the bait net for a pic before returning it to the water.

Any idea what it is going to grow up to be?

That's a tough one Woody. Certainly shaped like a Gar of some sort. Possibly barracuda or wahoo. Doesn't look like a jack or snapper or cabria species.

I agree... Barracuda or wahoo. Who knows?

I remember finding a bunch of those while tide pooling near Manzanillo on the mainland years ago. I wonder if they are newborn Sierra Mackerel?

They were large and plentiful around there back then, I hope that has not changed by now?

If you are not living on the edge, you are taking up too much space!

Rob

Anyone can catch fish in a boat but only \"El Pescador Grande\" can get them from the beach.

I hope when my time comes the old man will let me bring my rod and the water will be warm and clear.
