Ecobus

Want to catch Ecobus from La Paz airport to San Jose. Confusing info so far! Times from LP airport to San Jose destination-do they go only to SJ airport or do they also stop in San Jose? I intend to fly from Loreto on Thursday from Loreto (not sure of airlines schedule yet). Thanks

Simple. Go to the station on the malecon at the foot of cinco de mayo and talk to the agent. They even speak ingles. There is also an extensive discussion on TripAdvisor if the Ecobaja website is too daunting. Their service is excellent but a reservation is highly recommended. They do sell out.

If I understand correctly you plan to fly from Loreto to La Paz and then you want to take the EcoBajaTours bus from the La Paz airport to San Jose centro, not the SJD airport, right?

I am not aware of an EcoBajatours bus leaving from the La Paz airport even though their website shows that as an option. When you try to plug in a route from the La Paz airport to either the SJD airport or downtown Cabo San Lucas, you just get no route available ("Se encontraron 0 corrida(s)"). Also, I don't think they stop in San Jose. Maybe you could ask the driver to drop you along the way? - it would be on the main highway.

I would try calling one of the numbers at the bottom of their website and see if you can talk to a real person about what you want to do. If that doesn't work, your best bet may be to simply get a taxi from the La Paz airport to the malecon bus station and get the shuttle bus from there.

Why not fly Loreto - San Jose? Is there a flight? Then take a bus from the airport into San Jose.

I'm guessing that you do not have a vehicle in Loreto. I'm also thinking that flying from Loreto to La Paz and then trying to hook up with a bus to San Jose will take just about the amount of time it would take to drive from Loreto to San Jose. Just about an entire day.

It is a mini-micro bus that seats about 10 people. It says ECOBUS on the side of the bus.
They are green and white.

Thanks everyone. I do have a car and I am headed back to the states but might need to take a quick trip back to San Jose. I have figured out there is a flight from Loreto to La Paz (late afternoon flight on Sundays, Tuesday's, and Thursday's leaving Loreto at 4:55 and arriving in LP at 5:40). A little unsure yet about catching an Ecobus from the LP airport but will do more research or just fly in and see what happens. I found out that both Ecobus and the regular bus leave from the malacon in LP but the Ecobus goes only to the airport (as far as I can find out) and there ar express buses that go directly (or less little stops) to downtown San Jose bus terminal.

Duh. Express buses between cities in Mexico do exist :)... I've been using them extensively for the last 6-7 years. More comfortable than Greyhound and cost about the same. On this particular stretch - where I haven't been long time - it probably leaves every 1-2 hours.

Bajame - the last EcoBajaTours shuttle bus from the La Paz Malecon bus station to the SJD airport leaves around noon. Their aim is to get airline passengers to the airport for the late morning and early afternoon flights. Given the time of your flight arrival in La Paz, don't count on EcoBajaTours unless you want to overnight in La Paz and get an EcoBajaTours bus the next morning. Go to the malecon bus station and get on an Aguila or other bus to San Jose if you want to get there in the same day.
