AT&T and app use

Me again. Leaving for Baja Sur May 21, CAN'T WAIT! My father in law is there now. We have the AT&T family share data plan with one GB of data each month while in Mexico. He is having trouble with his apps. Granted he is 80 and hates the iPhone I got him, but I made sure he was able to use data on his phone. Anyone else have trouble using USA apps (like Buoy, Weather Channel) while in Baja? We don't have wi-fi but we get a pretty good signal over the water from Mulegé. Don't want to change sim card, anything we need to do? I used to turn data/cell roaming off but now that we have a data plan, albeit small, I would like to use it!

Check that the roaming data is ON.

I think you are in Punta Chivato Your AT&T plan likely picks up Telcel from Mulege.

Most of the time, I get four or five bars in our house in PC, but the data is really slow. I only get EDGE, not even 3G. In Mulege, there is LTE.

The data connection is also unreliable. Some days, I don't get any e-mails at all. It seems to work better in the early morning, for some reason.

I noticed last weekend that the connection was better on the Santa Ines Islands outside of Chivato. I'm guessing that it is because it is closer to Mulege.

I'm installing Exede.

Yes I am in Punta Chivato. I suspected as much, that the data signal wasn't that great. Will have to check out signal at Santa Inez!
