The Road to San Javier
Any one know the current condition of the Road to Javier just south of Loreto? I really want to visit the Mission and my car is an AWD SUV, but it is
definitely a wimpy SUV w/o a lot of clearance. I know the road was recently paved but with all the rain I was wondering if spots had big wash outs
that rendered it "difficult" to pass. Any info is greatly appreciated!

Small rental cars are being used to go to San Javier.. You should not have any problem.. Only one or two bad spots that are not paved as of last week
and those have been graded.. Be sure to stop off at Del Borracho Bar and Grill either one your way to San Javier or on the way back to Loreto...

It is a paved highway!
Some washouts and rocks after summer rains possible.
Not at all like it was when I first drove up there in the 70's ! LOL
The finest example of original Jesuit construction... A must see!

The missions are awesome... considering what they went through just to get there, let alone building them!
You will enjoy this new book on the Baja missions: http://oldmissions.com

I bought the book a little bit ago - that's where I found the mission! I have been going to Punta Chivato for a little over a decade and am finally
adventuring away from the beach. Finally going to La Trinidad cave paintings, too.

Half way up the hill to San Javier, you'll pass thru Las Parras with a cool little church.

What is the road like from San Javier, south-east to Mag Bay? I drove it in the 1990s in a rental jeep.
