Totoaba?

Hey Ya'll,

Last time I was in Bahia Gonzaga there were a couple sport fishermen who showed me photos of the totoaba they caught near Punta Final. This was in 2007 or so, a long time ago. Are people still fishing for totoaba? I thought it was against the law to do so, though I must be wrong or have laws changed?

good question! I've got a friend in oxnard (that im sure some of you know) that fishes white sea bass commercially, I asked him the same question. at that time anyway he wasn't aware of the whole swim bladder/totoaba affair.
sure sounds to me like if the bladders were similar alot of folks could be making some serious coin LEGALLY selling WSB bladders. :?::?:

Totuaba bladders have strings coming off of them. They are the indicator of an actual totuaba bladder.

Endangered fish bladders are better tasting when you sprinkle ground rhino horn and use ivory utensils. :(::mad:

What in the f--k are people thinking sometimes, consuming and using something that going the way of the Dodo bird?

it really is a shame that totoaba are still being fished for and only their bladders. it's about time the mexican navy is patrolling for poachers and sea shepherd is also in the battle.
